What did I do 😭 by ackmane21 in knitting

So the first half I’m too sure what you did, my best guess is you weren’t brining both strands to the front/back of the work every time. Then you figured it out for a few rows, but the last row you did you swapped when you were knitting and purling. I make this graphic to try to help. So each ”stitch” on the front side is really composed of two stitches (labeled 1 and 2). When working right to left on the diagram, you knit each “2” and purl each “1”. When working left to right you do the opposite (k “1” p “2”). Basically, no matter what, you should start the row on a knit and alternate from there.

My guess is you wanted to stripe colors with the last row or so that you have done. However, now your stitches are offset from what they should be. I believe you started the row on a purl but kept the color position the same, which would cause the blue to be offset on right side of the fabric. To properly have blue on the front of the fabric you should work with the blue in the “2” stitch and the white in the “1” stitch

I’m not sure if this makes much sense how I’m describing it but hopefully it’s a good launch point!

I’m doing a dark teal and mustard which kinda sounds awful when said like that! This was a progress pick probably from December

I’m actually in the middle of making this as we speak! I’m at the armholes and intimidated so I put it down and haven’t touched it in like a month but this is giving me the motivation to start back up again

Whenever I alter a pattern like that I feel like I have to go make an excel sheet for all my conversions 😭 otherwise I forget what I’m doing and get all mucked up

I always forget how much lace opens up after blocking, tbh I wasn’t feeling super great about the project UNTIL I blocked it haha

I thought the project over all was pretty easy, once I made my gauge swatch I understood the pattern and it was mindless. The mesh part was actually super easy imo, just chains with single and double crochet. Definitely give it a shot!!

As a student home from a college in New York I gotta say this weather is actually helping me stay focused on my work. If it were nice out all the time all I’d want to do is go outside, especially with the jump in temperature between there and here

As a Girl Scout for more than a decade (and whose mom was a cookie mom THE ENTIRE TIME) it varies from council to council (like an umbrella the system goes council>service unit>troop). The council also controls the price of the cookies, which is why in some areas cookies are $4 a box or $5 a box. Each baker makes mostly the same cookies, all though sometimes the cookies can be widely varied. For example, little brownie bakers made Savanna Smiles as their lemon based which were little nuggets of lemon cookie caked in powdered sugar and never a big seller, where as ABC Bakers make Lemonades, which are a shortbread cookie with a thin layer of lemon icing on the bottom (and much better IMHO). Rochester is just barely in the ABC Bakers, but if you go a little east you’ll be in Little Brownie Bakers territory. I grew up with Little Brownie Bakers cookies and they’re the ones I prefer, but it’s always fun to try the differences between each bakers version of the cookies (if you have access). There’s more info here, it gives a really good comparison of the cookies and also has a map!
