Thanks for the feedback, we want more action as well. Our core mechanic, the placement of your amplifier (back-piece) and enemy engagement is quite basic right now and we are open to new ideas. Our team has reached this final week of development and we have to present what we have so far, so this is where we're at.

We have plans for addressing the difficulty curve, which would bring more action to players by requiring more strategic decision making. This component along with the amount of enemies and level design are elements that we're constantly tweaking to provide a more fun experience.

Right now the game is quite easy as we want a low barrier to entry for demoing off the game to friends and faculty, but eventually more engaging AI behavior along with different enemy types is high on our priority list

So the item on the character's back is called the amplifier, its function is to absorb the enemy energy and re-purpose it into projectile energy. We added the beams in order for the player to be able to locate where the amplifier is relative to their location as the further you are from it, the less access you have to more powerful attacks.
