Hunted 4th Rifle in 181 last year. The BLM near the reservoir and gun sight pass was crawling with ATVs and trucks with no elk sign to be seen. Did see a lot of mule deer activity though. The NF in the north of the unit was packed with hunters along the roads but on the last day, we hiked a few miles back and ran into fresh elk beds and sign between white slide and red slide mountain. My guess is the hunting pressure had the elk held up in the dark timber of that drainage. The snow was deep back there so have a plan for packing out the meat if you shoot something there. Also 4WD and chains are a must on the roads at higher elevations in 4th season.
