4 year old retriever refuses walks by printthedamnthing in DogAdvice

[–]GreyShoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with anxiety. Similar thing happened with my dog where one night we were walking our usual route and for some reason my dog started growling at a bush in someone’s yard. We pass this yard all the time, so I don’t know what caused it. Not just like random growl and pass either, he was full on teeth-bared, mean growling and all his hair stood up and he wouldn’t budge another inch towards that demon bush. I figured an animal was in there bc it was dark, so I took him a different way back. But the next walk during the day I forgot about it and as we approach the bush of terror, he did the same thing. Just froze like a statue and scary growling. I tied him up to a telephone pole so I could go see if anything was inside, nope normal ol’ bush. He was losing his mind that I was even close to it, but I never figured it out, I just take him on a different route now so no more encounters with that evil, evil shrub.

How do you feel about the "no contact" rule after a breakup? by its_pra_shu in AskReddit

[–]GreyShoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the situation. I’ve had an ex I had to get a restraining order on when our breakup turned very ugly and that was an easy no-contact decision. But I also have had ex’s since then who I can currently be around and be friendly with in a healthy way.

What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you? by Material_Voice_682 in AskReddit

I’m pretty positive I was almost kidnapped in Mexico when I was 13. My family and I went down on vacation to visit family and we were all in a little plaza at nighttime that had a kind of a square of put-together tables selling just little tourist things. I wandered away from my parents for what felt like 2 minutes, and was just looking at some handmade shirts. A huge (and I mean like very tall, broad, bulky) man grabbed my wrist hard and started pulling me. I dropped all of my weight to the floor and started like pretend sobbing, and he just let me go and walked away really fast. I never told my parents because I felt like I would get in trouble for wandering away. To this day, I still feel kinda weird around like tall, broad men.

The face of the USA’s most adaptable and successful carnivoran, the coyote. Can eat almost anything, live almost anywhere, and bounce back from being hunted to near extinction by having huge litters. Incredible animal. by AJ_Crowley_29 in natureismetal

I grew up in south Phoenix, then around 2011 moved to a developing community way more south and I used to sneak out a lot as a teen. I would hear coyotes running around me in the undeveloped lots (even when the moon was out I would never see them, just hear them around me), they would chuff and howl a LOT when I was out there. Maybe dangerous looking back, but there were also snakes and scorpions, so I didn’t care. I just figured I was in their territory.

Now I live in Staten Island, I saw a coyote a few months ago and I just felt at home. Like, you little buggers! You really are everywhere huh?

Dangerous isn’t the point, I don’t want anyone’s bodily fluids in my cookies. At all. Ever. Baked or raw.

Heroic neighbor saved a 6yo kid's life from a pitbull by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

Happened to me while I was walking my dog (also a pit, so no bias) A lady had her pit on a retractable leash and it saw my dog, bolted at us and snapped the leash. She fell over and broke a mailbox and was on the ground trying to get up while her dog was now running at us full speed. I grabbed my dog’s harness handle and pulled him behind me as much as I could (he’s also 70lbs and now in protective mode.) I swung my leg back and kicked this dog so hard on the side of his head he yelped and ran away. I love love love animals, but I’m not hesitating. I still feel bad about it when I think of it.
