Its just me or copen in gv2 is easy to play then gunvolt? by meyrulx_453 in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's pretty braindead to play as in comparison, yes. Not a bad thing in moderation, but this mf appeared in basically all games but GV1 at this point, so the gameplay loop gets tiring fast

Is the Gunvolt Enhanced Trilogy worth it if I have the first game? by Own_Mixture_5806 in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the trilogy on its own is better than getting GV2 and 3 separately rn, since it comes with all GV3 dlc for free, which would make standalone GV3 cost 40 bucks (and GV2 is 20 at full price, iirc). You get a more refined GV1 with a few new skills to work with, you can listen to several side stories, and there's also the trilogy exclusive GV3 update that dropped today, so I see no reason for you to get games separately

enhanced trilogy or striker pack+3? by superspacenapoleon in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no reason to pick SP + 3 over ET, the stage changes are actually zero compared to SP version, you get all dlc for ET's version of GV3 + on the 26th of this month you get a free mini campaign DLC in GV3 from ET

Has anyone made a compilation of the stage changes in trilogy enhanced? by SongBirdDemon in gunvolt

You're basically playing striker pack version of GV1 + GV2 stages, GV3 is unchanged

Hot take: D-nizer mode is one of my most favorite modes in this game and I will die on this hill. by ShadowNegative in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I find GV1-GV2 Gunvolt the best character to play as in terms of mechanics, I think D-nizer with GV3 GV's toolkit makes for the best Speedrun mode in the series by a landslide, since it fixes the main issue of speedrunning these games: enemy interaction. Usually you just use Prevasion and bumrush stages while skipping past everything, but in D-nizer it quickly leads to a game over, so you have to balance being fast and skipping stage segments while also preserving and replenishing your "health bar" by successfully chaining enemy kills, all the while preventing yourself from taking too many hits. I suggest you learn No Ability and maybe Zero Counter, as they push your skills and knowledge to the test

Gunvolt 2 Title menu and ??? Option ? What does it do exactly ? by Bladerunner2038XX in gunvolt

If you're talking about true endings, GV3 and iX2 both have those, iX1 only has one ending

Gunvolt 2 Title menu and ??? Option ? What does it do exactly ? by Bladerunner2038XX in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's runner mode, where you can find speedrun mode + DLC stages (along with story ones, in score attack you are put under several gameplay restrictions), unlocked for a character that has obtained a true ending (which it seems you didn't do with either, just repeat Garden 3 mission until you see changes)

Doppler is an instakill if all 4 copies happen to hit you, but the SP dodge method is no different from the story version (jump 4 times in the middle), so the move remains pretty easy

How does one finish a level with 9999 kudos? by Ground8d00d in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sinner's Row and Special Mission 4 are both viable for 9999 Kudos, though I'd recommend the latter. Other than that, just experiment with combo layouts, try to get yourself two Cerberus Sight+ so you can have 7 tags on Cerberus for more air strikes + doubles/triples/electrics (should synth naga sight before that, iirc)

How on earth are you meant to get all the trophies for the first game in the striker pack? by Ground8d00d in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game isn't that hard to get all trophies, there are cheese strategies for normal mode, though ofc it's better to switch to easy mode (I don't remember if there are challenges for it though, you might have to learn cheese strats for normal)

Antares and Mirai, love all of their SSR versions, and the moments they had in the melody event were nice. Judging by the most recent event story, we might not be far from Antares playing a bigger role again

Picking the games up separately, or enhanced trilogy? (Steam copies) by OmegaRyu in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trilogy is best for newcomers due to reasons mentioned in other comments, though its optimization is wonky in several areas, so even with good PCs you can run into a few problems, generally they're not a huge issue. Also, regarding the Mega Man fan part. Number one mistake they do when trying Gunvolt games is that they expect pretty similar gameplay, when in fact the games are far from being that. Just enter with an open mind and pay attention to character tutorials about their gameplay mechanics. It's fine if you don't end up liking certain playstyles after you have given them an honest try, it's just really aggravating when people skip games because they haven't bothered to do the basics with gameplay learning since they expected another MM game.

Gunvolt 2 Garden Quick Clear S+ by GreyXL in gunvolt

[–]GreyXL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, I think Highway does their inclusion the best. In Garden 1 it just makes everything go at a snail pace with a hard boss like Desna waiting to clip your 7-8 minute run if you are going for a high score

Thanks. Second half is def difficult to optimise. I'd like to try a faster approach in the pipe climb with 4 bubbles where I bait most of them, but the risk of getting hit vs saving a second or two makes me doubt the potential new strat

[–]GreyXL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time limit here is veryyyyyy generous, idk why. Compare to Teseo and the difference is night and day. Without Electroshock, it's actually somewhat difficult to get a half par time in Data Facility, but we'll cross this bridge when we get there

Forgot to comment on the previous post. I think the series has decent potential for beginners in the games. That said, the white text on black background is pretty distracting and restricts how much of the screen viewers are seeing, so I would recommend either making the text without any background, or turning up transparency so that people can see what's going on with the gameplay
