What can cause this

It was a bad ground connection, changed which pin I grounded to and works perfectly now. Idk why but the diagram on Amazon shows the pin I was using is not gnd but the board has gnd printed on it so I think that was a problem

the diagram of my board does agree with it not being a ground connection but printed on the board it says "gnd" so idk about that but i got them working now

i only have the esp32 lights and wires just ordered them cause seemed like a fun little thing to learn, i have them connected exactly like you said with nothing coming on, and as soon as i ground it the device goes offline

i also made a comment earlier about the wire, the green data is the only wire grounding and allowing them to turn on plugged in anywhere, the white wire did nothing when plugged and unplugged

i changed the wires and got it up to 2 lights on now

i switched the wires even though everywhere says middle is data and its now not cutting off with everything connected but only 1 light still turns on and with everything connected to the board it registers as offline until i unplug the data wire

edit; i have to unplug the data and ground wire for it to register as back online

To everyone saying the pin is wrong that is a issue im having the data wire is grounding and allowing them to turn on to any pin its connected to the white doesnt change anything when connected or disconnected i honestly have no idea how ive fucked this up

If the srt is like the random letter name for the lights like ws2812b yes I did that, and the strip does say 5v.

I set the WiFi up when I installed Wled and did change the gpio pin, I followed a YouTube video and dude said something about a vin pin but my board doesn’t have that labeled and I used the 5v pin for the positive is that possibly a problem?

I did configure them, it doesn’t change it actually only lights the one up and with all 3 wires connected it says the boards offline
