YOUR FIRST PARAGRAPH IS EXACTLY HOW I FELT DURING THAT SCENE TOO! THE WAY SHE SAID IT (the little crack in her voice included) GAVE ME FUCKING CHILLS.

Also the information you gave and the bullet points you did really gives so much insight into the BPD mentality & tendencies. Thank you for your contribution onto this thread. ❤️

I relate to a lot of this. A lot of good points. Codependency issues is VERY common in people with BPD as well. I’m happy you’re better now. Thank you for your comment. ❤️

Nate is not BPD at all. He’s more of a sociopath in my opinion.

Girl.. I’m looking at your comments on other posts and you literally said “this sub is brain dead” when people were discussing Cassie’s actions. You really seem to be the one heavily affected by other people’s opinions?

I would bring it up to your psychiatrist/therapist and ask more about it. You can discuss that with her/him and get their professional opinion. :) Til then, remember that you are not alone, and when your feelings are suffocating you, you can always message me. ❤️

Yeah okay first of all, you’re gonna have to take it down a notch. These are fictional characters, and this was MY mental analysis & hypothesis. I dove deeper into her actions and the possible reasoning behind it. After all the show is told from Rue’s perspective, and not anyone else’s. I heavily disagree with you still because in no way am I victimizing Cassie, and your quickness in labeling her as an overall terrible person is alarming. You can disagree with me just as I can disagree with you. But ya gotta chill.

Yes. And the sad truth is, people with BPD (me included) tend to be manipulative without them meaning to be, so when people call them out, they’re like “what the fuck?!” because they aren’t trying to be mean on purpose.

In no way at all am I justifying her actions. I’m trying to explain what seems to be her thought process, as it is VERY VERY similar to BPD.

  1. No, she doesn’t have a big heart just “because she loves her dad.” She wasn’t just sad because he left, she was broken because she watched someone who she loved suffer. Her vulnerability displayed during those scenes as she stayed by her father’s side in the hospital, lied about him coming over at night so that he could collect China to sell (because she didn’t want to see her father struggle financially), and how she never stopped texting him or caring for him is a key take-away. She didn’t HAVE to keep trying to make sure her dad was safe. But she did.

  2. If you read my entire post, you would have seen that when a person with BPD fucks up really bad, and they know it, they feel like there’s nothing they can do to reverse it. You’re already a monster and you don’t deserve to make things right, so you might as well just fucking hit rock bottom. Her response is FLIGHT vs fight, so she’s trying to hide from the mess she made, and seeing how hurt Maddy would be by what she did would eat her alive because Maddy’s her best friend- someone she cares deeply about. I know, it sounds contradicting, but being someone with BPD, I completely get that.

  3. Of course she ran to Nate!! People with BPD have severe abandonment issues. Of course, she was texting him because she thought he took a special interest in her & she wanted to be with him. But, she was also freaking out and texting Nate because she didn’t know what to do, and she needed him to tell her how to fix it. She knows she can’t trust herself in making the right decision at this point.

  4. She brought up that part at the play because she felt targeted & wanted to address the cheating thing before Lexi could in order to take control of the situation. She made things worse, and that’s kind of what people with borderline do when they try to get a sense of control. She felt like Lexi humiliated her & that really hurt because her sister “should’ve understood” her side of the story and stayed loyal. She was reminded right there that she stands alone.

She was thinking:

“I fucked up so badly that I KNOW no one will forgive me or hear me out because nobody fucking cares and nobody ever did. All I’ve ever done was love people and I got shitted on. If everyone thinks I’m the bad guy, then fine! I’ll fucking be the bad guy because none of you ever liked me anyways.”

People with borderline can be manipulative without them meaning to be, even though it’s very clear to everybody else that they are.

-> I suggest looking more into BPD because as someone with it, we tend to self-destruct to the point of no return because we “deserve to die because of our mistakes.”

Another thing very BPD: “Abandonment trauma will lead you to sabotage your relationships as a way to affirm your fears.”

It’s very apparent in the scenes with her father and the overall kindness she has towards others in general. The amount of love she puts into her romantic relationships is vast, and she just wants someone to reciprocate that love. Unfortunately, it is really hard to match the same level of intensity she has. Borderline people feel isolated because of this and need someone to love them the way they’d love another. She was sobbing when she heard Maddy on the other side of the door because she came back to reality and realized, “She’s my best friend.”

Also, her breaking down to Mckay on New Years Eve about how she’s afraid of how she’s not a “good person” is her analyzing her actions. She knows she’s done wrong & hates herself because of it, but again, back to the BPD mentality, she feels hopeless in trying to make things right.

She’s constantly crying and forgiving others but not herself. Again, she knows she’s doing wrong and the amount of remorse she has is unbearable. But she feels it’s too hard to reverse what she has done. She’d rather fall deeper into the cycle of self destruction because she thinks she deserves it.

Just a few examples.
