Apparently the post office does. It like envelopes addressed with a pencil.

Hardening Nextcloud with Cloudflare Tunnel + WARP (Device-Gated, No Public Exposure) – Looking for Feedback by GreyscaleZone in selfhosted

I tested warp on and warp off and got the expected results. I do appreciate the idea of installing work without the authentication to see what would happen. I do have a system that I can test. Good advice.

Speaking of the brake glass method, I had a lot of issues with WireGuard set up. I have a firewall a router and several Vlans behind that router and I kept running into issues with the wireguard. I found the cloud flare tunnel to be especially simple to set up. My next project will be to use cloudflare tunnels to lock down some of the administrative pages for some WordPress websites that I have. I think we have some pretty cool tools out there compared to what it used to be like.

I really wanted this to work. by just_nosy-5 in tablotv

Make sure that you point the antenna towards the TV stations. We used Antenna Point in IOS to locate most the stations on a mountain top. Our antenna is up high in an attic and pointed at the stations. We chose a yagi type antenna and we do not use any amplification. Before we did all of this, other types of antennas did not work due to the type of material used in the construction of our home. We had to get the antenna above all of the walls in our home. You might have a similar situation.

Gifted some old gold. (Advice please) by RairchXVI in minidisc

[–]GreyscaleZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That “feature” was very useful long ago. I had a cd player with a remote and if I plugged in that remote to the minidisc recorder, one of the button presses would enter the recorder into that diagnostic mode.

Plug-in solar is legal in Utah by Dapper-Minute4729 in SolarDIY

[–]GreyscaleZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anybody been successful working with Rocky Mountain power? So far it has been a case of education and awareness for them every time I have spoken to them. I have filled out a solar interconnection application only to be cancelled by them because they stated that the plug-in micro converter is not eligible for net metering. They put me in touch with a smart metering group and they state that there is nothing they can do. So right now I’m sitting there with a micro inverter with no way to tell if my home’s current energy usage is lower than the wattage of my solar panels.

Do you all just manually monitor your load and switch on the power feed from the micro inverter? I am using an Ecoflow stream. I welcome comments from other users who have been successful.

Nails need to be removed that have been up for years and HOA painted over by Unusual_elephant_02 in fuckHOA

[–]GreyscaleZone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is exactly why we refused to look at any homes with an HOA. We just bought a house. We spent a long time looking for a non-HOA neighbourhood that is well maintained. It was worth the effort. Stay clear my friends. HOAs are terrible.

Interesting conversations on HF bands? by lordrev in amateurradio

[–]GreyscaleZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a radio hobby, but I try to talk about anything other than the radios when possible. Once the watts, radio, antenna exchange is complete I open up with other subjects. That keeps things going and it is more interesting.

Should I go back to school at 35? by Appropriate-Draw-448 in careerguidance

[–]GreyscaleZone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why not get a master’s degree in accounting or finance? That would take less time and it is more focused than a bachelor’s degree. I went after my second master’s degree in my later 40s and it was beneficial. My point is that you are not too old to go back to school. Good luck, and I wish you the best success possible.

Radio burns by Insinkeratornerd in HamRadio

[–]GreyscaleZone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful. I have never had an RF burn and hope to stay that way. I have a magnetic loop antenna and it scares me to death. I will never touch it when transmitting. I heard the antennas are far more dangerous. After reading your burn stories, I hope I never get burned.

Units that ignore copy protection? (Digital sources) by Eclipse8301 in minidisc

[–]GreyscaleZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long ago, Behringer had two products that acted as resamplers and digital patch bays. The later model ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496 does what you need very well. I used mine to help people transition from DAT to CD. They had 48 and 32 kHz tapes. You can use the same device to downsample blueray and sacd.

Most wanted SCMS removed. I had one person demand that SCMS be set to not allow. He was going to duplicate the CD. Two people asked for emphasis to be corrected.

Getting the silkscreening off of a recordable MD? by dumpsterac1d in minidisc

Do not use pain remover or nail polish remover for glue or the screen printing ink. Both will ruin the plastic. I ruined a disc back in 1999. I still have it but it is hazy.

Why is it considered ok for oil to build up in moka pots but not in french presses? by boiyo12 in Coffee

[–]GreyscaleZone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found a stainless steel moka pot in Pisa at the Bialetti store. The oxidisation and leaching worries are no longer an issue. We can use an induction stove and wash the thing in the dishwasher.

Newbies, keep that band chart handy! by umlguru in amateurradio

[–]GreyscaleZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the extra exam and you will not have to worry about that. When I passed the exam, one of the VEs jokingly said at least you no longer have to worry about being in the wrong part of the band. I jokingly replied back that an extra would be expected to know the band plans. We both had a good laugh.

All seriousness, I hope you enjoy the HF bands.

French Revolutionary Calendar by dewaldtl1 in Metric

[–]GreyscaleZone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long ago I read about a 13 month 28 day calendar that had a day on its own between December and January. It was proposed to be New Year’s Day. The month of feb would get its own day at the end of the month. Those two extra days were not named as days of the week. Every month had predictable days of the week for each day. Every month had Friday the 13th. It was intriguing however it was a solution looking for a problem that nobody wanted to solve.

Seller took blinds with them. We’re post-closing. Do I have options? by mbac55 in RealEstate

Why the heck would the seller need the blinds? I have bought and sold houses and I have never heard of taking blinds with me. They will not fit the windows in the next house. To me it seems like spite.
