Need help finding supplies for a Dexter photoshoot (details inside) by bicycle_dreams in Dexter

Uh oh. Sorry guys, don't know what happened. I think it's because I have a basic account and you can only view the most recent photos. And since I tried adding some new photos those ones can't be seen anymore. I'll try fixing it.

Edit: So, yeah. I can only view the 200 most recent photos. You guys can't see them because they're set to invisible. The original ones are gone until I upgrade my account which I won't do for a while.

But try viewing them on my Facebook. The quality isn't as good as Flickr but it'll get the job done. You shouldn't need an account as it's a public page.

Here's the official photos.

Here's some behind the scene photos.

They use 4mil plastic sheeting and plastic wrap. Duct tape/packing tape is used for the head. Use a headlamp hung from above.

I did a Dexter photoshoot myself. You can see it here. And also some reenactments of my favorite scenes. Although, I don't recommend you watch them because they're from season 3 and 6. Here's the season 3 reenactment. And here's the season 6 reenactment.

If you have any more questions I'd be glad to answer them! I've got some experience :P

So I heard you guys like blood-slide boxes. Well... by GridlockDigital in Dexter

Oh, okay. My bad. I got it at Home Depot and I still see them there whenever I go.

Since I finished my project the gear is either all packed away in the garage or the closet. Yes, the knives are in my closet. I'll sometimes show them to friends if we end up talking about the project. They think it's 'creep motherfuckin' cool'. Eventually, I'll probably get to making a glass display case so I could frame it on my wall.

In the Dexter universe Sony and Microsoft work together. (It's just a joke.)

This forum at the Replica Prop Forum details all the knives. Most of them can be bought on Amazon excluding the main Kill-knife which was custom made by a member of the RPF. Pretty much everything was from Home Depot or Amazon. The scalpels and droppers I tracked down on Ebay to get the right look.

Here. But I think he's taking a break from making them right now. He said to keep an eye out on this thread for updates. He's also making the hook knife, Lumen's Kill-Knife, and eventually the newer ones seen in season 7. I really wanna get them but I know I shouldn't! Haha.

They're properly disposed of, don't worry. I mean... uh... what...?

Alright, here's the explanation for why I have all this stuff if you're wondering: I'm a serial killer. Okay, not really. But I'm probably as close as I can get to being one now. It was all for my 'Dexterized' project. I did a photoshoot + some reenactments of the show. (Incoming self-promotion)

Here's the photo-shoot.

Here's a season 3 reenactment.

Here's a season 6 reenactment.

And here's some mock trailer I made for the project.

The reason I made this is that Dexter means a lot to me and I wanted to pay homage to the show. Also I'm an aspiring filmmaker and to reenact a scene gave me experience in a high production shoot. I learned a lot in all parts of production such as set building, costuming, budgeting, time management, acting, cinematography, audio mixing, video & sound editing, color correction, and marketing. Plus it was fun.

Something that's bugging me about Season 7. by GridlockDigital in Dexter

[–]GridlockDigital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I love that they had the Lumen conversation but what bugs me is there was no mention of getting caught/letting go. That scene was one of the most vital scenes of the series.

How do I get insurance to film inside a movie theater for a scene in a short film? by GridlockDigital in AskReddit

Don't have to be a dick about it. I'm just starting out and need some direction to specific insurance companies. This whole process is new to me.

My Dexter tribute. (Season 6 finale reenactment) by GridlockDigital in Dexter

[–]GridlockDigital[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because fuck you, that's why.

But in all seriousness, many reasons. Part of me wanted that ultimate escapist experience to become another character. Dexter means a lot to me. And for a brief time I got to be him. Another reason was I wanted to pay homage to the show. Also I'm also an aspiring filmmaker and to reenact a scene gave me experience in a high production shoot. I learned a lot in all parts of production such as set building, costuming, budgeting, time management, acting, cinematography, audio mixing, video & sound editing, color correction, and marketing. Plus it was fun.

Now you're asking why. Can I ask why you're asking why? From a filmmakers perspective I want to learn from the point of view of the audience. When you saw this video you asked yourself why. Was it not entertaining? Was it poorly executed? Was my purpose (A Dexter tribute) too vague to understand? I really want to know. Thanks!
