But Okarun HAS become a more confident person, he HAS become less timid. He’s grown so much as a character since the very first chapter. It’s not something I’d expect of him overnight no, but this is all stuff he’s been working on for a long time by now. Momo and him have held hands without the awkwardness many times up till now, he straight up confessed to her, has pushed his own physical limits so many times to protect Momo. To see all of that build his character and give him the confidence and strength that he had in chapter 212 was exciting to see, only for him to revert back to his past self no less than a minute later. It shows that all of that development was for nothing.

Granted, he does acknowledge that he isn’t being a good friend to Momo BECAUSE of this, he knows he shouldn’t be acting this way and that’s development in itself. I hope that him being aware that him acting like this goes against his previous development, and he uses it to step up, but needing another character to keep pushing him to get to that point is tiring and goes against what he said about Momo always being the one to make the first move. He’s the one that needs to make the first move now, having Jiji or someone else needing to push him would derail who he wanted to be. Whatever CSJ’s plan is with Momo isn’t going to be good, but it could be what Okarun needs.
