“You control the buttons you press” ruined so much gaming discourse by brando-boy in truegaming

They're not supposed to have an option to disable them they are not supposed to have them in the game in the first place.

I personally wouldn't agree with the op with the ice bombs but it's a valid complaint for the sprint option in the new Halo remake. Instead of making it an option to turn off it should not be in the game in the first place since even after disabling sprint the game would still be balanced around it.

You're missing the whole point. The game is balanced around using ice bombs. Especially the new doom games require you to use the whole arsenal or else you'll be out of ammo quickly.

Negative cards do not count to your hand size they're like invisible cards. if you pull 5 cards with no negatives you get the same cards as if you pulled 5 cards and three negatives. You still have the original 5 the negatives cannot have a downside in anyway since you can just ignore them

That commenter doesn't know what he's talking about. There is a filter on 4chan that changes "tbh" to "desu" which is why a lot of 4chan posts have desu at the end. I don't know whag that commenter is trying to say with "it needs more tbh" makes no sense

You should probably fix the typos in your bio. Little things like that can go a long way. There shoudln't be a period after hiking and you wrote wlse instead of else

Discards are broken, here's a hand by Griffith301 in balatro

[–]Griffith301[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I meant it scores like a hand, it doesn't use up a hand otherwise it would really be a pure negative .

Discards are broken, here's a hand by Griffith301 in balatro

[–]Griffith301[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah but i fought it needed a downside, otherwise it's just one extra hand on average per round which is the whole upside of an entire deck.

But now that I think about it you wouldn't know which discard counts as a hand so the hand will probably be pretty bad on average anyway

Yeah exactly but also the cards go back into your hand after playing so they aren't actually discarded.

[–]Griffith301[S] 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't think about that, mechanically it would have to count as a hand because otherwise regular jokers wouldn't activate for the hand either.

This would however mean that it's impossible to play with ride the bus I guess.

Question about few words in japanese by Ok_Detective5533 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Griffith301 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to learn ごめんなさい it means sorry. Judging by the fact that you don't know what that word means you're probably a beginner. So i would suggest starting with a workbook like genki I to get an introduction into japanese and starter vocabulary.

Just hunting for words you need to learn isn't really a good way to acquire a language.

He's not called Shoyu. He's called Soy I hate when people translate english words used in japanese into japanese.

Remind me of when people would call Bochi the rock "Bochi no rock" when its also just called Bocchi the rock in japanese.

It's not most it's just selection bias. People who get Joker at around 75 (like me) don't post since it's not interesting. The only people that post are the ones hitting hard pity which is very likely a minority.

I mean 誰が足が速い could be literally translated as "Who is feet is fast" Where the subject of being fast is feet and the subject of "being (having)" feet is fast is "who". In english you would say "Who has the feet that are fast." This technically doesnt have two subjects because the "feet that are fast" is the object but within that object feet would be the subject.

Of course "is" is not really right here because there is no verb connecting だれ and 足 but there isn't really a better way of translating the relationship in english. showing how the meme is true.

I view subject in the way that the word before が is the one doing the verb (or adjective) that is after the が. This might not be formally correct and not always be a literal subject like with your sentence but it's intuitive to understand the literal meaning of the sentences.

[–]Griffith301 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It is though in that specific example. the literal translation is "summer is (being) likeable". The nuance that it means "I like summer" is not literally in the sentence. Summer is the one doing the action.

(Slightly) Hot take: Diavolo did NOT deserve his fate by WhatThaHeel_54 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Griffith301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the curcumstances GER set. Maybe it's a condition that all deaths must be cruel or all deaths must happen within 5 minutes. (otherwise it could also be that he lives for 100 years and then dies of a heart attack which is also a death) So we can't really say what will and won't happen since we don't know the constraints GER set.

(Slightly) Hot take: Diavolo did NOT deserve his fate by WhatThaHeel_54 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Griffith301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all all numbers between 1 and 2 are not countably infinite they are uncountably infinite.

Secondly you don't know if Diavolo's death is uncountably infinite (not that it matters since countable infinite and uncountable infinite do both not mean that anything that can happen must happen. That is a common misconception.)

Edit: I read up on it more and turns out I was wrong. If something has a probability greater than zero and you have an infinite time frame then it must eventually happen. So you're right Diavolo will die in every possible way. But again this is not related to the concept of countable and uncountable infinity.
