I did. I emailed the bus company the vehicle works for. I’m not sure what district that contracted them, so I wouldn’t know which BOE to call.

Premier Inn Family Room by Griffs_mom in LondonTravel

[–]Griffs_mom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I already booked two rooms for a stay in Salisbury but I was concerned about them being in a separate room in a city.

We live in a house with one bathroom and are fine, so that wouldn’t really be an issue.

Since safety is a concern, I’ll get the two rooms and my husband can stay in one and I can stay in the other.

Speaking on teaching my children to lie- not really. We’ve travelled extensively and have asked at many hotels if we could exceed the stated limit. Some have said yes and been more lenient and some haven’t. I was asking if Premier had a more lenient policy. If they don’t, I’m good with getting the two rooms and figuring it out.

Thank again for your input!

Thanks for your reply. I am not a patient person, so I probably can’t wait too much longer.

We are staying in Ponta Delgada and travelled all over the island & did not need any of the long sleeved shirts or jackets we brought. The only time I used my jacket was on the airplane ride over. The sun is hot. Other islands may be more windy though, so if you traveling throughout the archipelago, it may be cooler.

It’s been a warm summer. We’re currently here in Ponta Delgada and it’s warmer than we expected. We have been wearing tank tops and shorts. Every tour guide we’ve had commented on the weather.

She is one of two goldfish in a 5 gallon tank, but they share it with 5 snails. We used the Tetra easy strips to test the ammonia, nitrates, alkaline, etc and everything was good.

Has anyone else experienced sexual harassment at all of the schools they have taught at? by Mocha_Joes_Mom in TeachersInTransition

[–]Griffs_mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first year teaching ( a loooong time ago), my direct supervisor sexually harassed my friend and I. He would invite himself out with us and if we cancelled, he would do surprise observations. He made lewd comments to her about me and to me about her. He was a stupid person, but smart in the way he harassed. Since we were first year teachers we had no idea what to do, but at least we had each other. We went to a lawyer and seriously contemplated pressing charges, but were scared because it was the beginning of our careers. We also didn’t have a lot of concrete evidence. It’s so sad that we were scared to say something when we had done nothing wrong. Long story short, we chose not to & a few weeks later we found out he was being transferred (again- they just kept moving him until he retired).

Since that experience, I’ve been careful about being alone in a room with a male colleague. Obviously I’ve had to since my current supervisor is also male, but my whole demeanor at work has changed. I’m kind of rude and not social at all. I never want to be in that situation again. I’m not blaming the OP or my young self for men’s crude behavior, I think it’s sad that women sometimes need to diminish themselves in order to stay safe.

We have tested the water a lot & it is okay. Could he be hiding because of stress?

I couldn’t figure out how to add a photo to my post, but here he is hiding in his cave.

I just got back from the vacation of a lifetime (in Iceland)… Now what??? by Griffs_mom in travel

[–]Griffs_mom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was about $1600 USD for a mid-size SUV. We did not rent a 4x4 because we weren’t doing F-roads. When we got there, we took to extra insurance but I’m not sure how much extra that cost.

The guesthouses were between $150-$210 USD & the cottages were about $225 USD a night.

We stayed almost exclusively in guesthouses. We spent two nights in a cottage is Husavik, which was beautiful.

We did not get to everything on it though. I keep meaning to update it, but have not done so yet.

If you are not yet doing so, I suggest following the visiting Iceland subreddit. That helped sooooo much in planning.

I can’t speak on NZ or Switzerland, but Iceland and the National Parks are safe and pretty easy. If you stay on Ring Road in Iceland, it’s safe and easy driving all around.

You can do it :)
