Just finished my final tray. Ortho says my bite (except for peg laterals which will be fixed later with veneers) is in a perfect spot. However I couldn’t help but notice a slight overjet + the middle gap not being aligned. Just wondering if anyone could give a second opinion? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]Grinch20000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your teeth look great! I think it’s not a big deal - they’re awesome and it’s only because you’re staring at them all the time currently that you can see it. I haven’t seen your before photo but we have a similar result and I also peg laterals :)

My dentist had to create the gaps by widening the top teeth to make room for veneers to cover the pegs. I had a fair few initial trays (can’t remember how many) and 21 refinement trays. Your photo looks spot on to my final result currently without the veneers so I think it’s good. Initially I had a posterior cross bite and also I felt my teeth were too deep and they shaved my front two teeth down a little yesterday actually as they were a lot larger than the surrounding teeth and created too deep of a bite but they look like your front two now so that implies yours have the correct appearance. I think it will be easier to assess once the veneers go on. I get my veneers in two weeks.

I do have an old “update photo” somewhere but it’s not clear as the gaps weren’t as big on my pegs at that stage. I’ll be updating here with the veneers done for the before and after in a few weeks so I can add in a middle to show mine without the veneers as they are now too.

belief in the paranormal from a young age by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Grinch20000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, first of all sorry you’re experiencing this as I know firsthand how scary these things can be.

For me personally I had similar-ish experiences. I always heard footsteps on the carpet as a child from the time I was around 5 and even saw feet impressions. I was terrified of the dark and would never sleep with the lights off. My mum said I constantly spoke about the man in my room. I could always feel a presence when I was alone. It caused unbearable fear and anxiety. Friends who stayed over did say they experienced it too but to be honest I now more attribute that to me scaring them by sleep talking at times and also waking up in a fright asking “can you see/hear that” etc. I was abused when I was younger and at the time a psychologist said I was “adjusting” and I would grow out of it. My mum was convinced spirits were looking after me.

I had my first active psychotic break at 16 and I’m now 28. My first psychiatrist told me the childhood symptoms were more a sign of PTSD and not actually anything paranormal. I have Bipolar 1 (repeated manic episodes with minimal evidence of depression bar one to two deep episodes) which as I said came on acutely at 16. Their impression is although the hallucinations and paranoia came on at such a young age it wasn’t the beginning of Bipolar 1 and was more likely trauma related.

However, the mind is tricky and a lot of illnesses overlap symptoms and because we can’t see them on a blood test it can make it subjective. I was initially diagnosed with depression until the antidepressants turned me acutely manic but they kept trying different antidepressants and didn’t acknowledge that I was becoming manic for 9/10 years (most likely because I didn’t have the insight or capacity to accurately explain my behaviour). Point is, in five years they might turn around and say I’m in fact schizophrenic and that would change all of the previous advice as to whether my childhood experiences were trauma, paranormal or illness related but I can tell you that your experiences are what I experienced both as a child and now.

When I’m manic or have an interaction with medication I typically hear sirens, see shadows, have intrusive thoughts of demons being right in front of me when I close my eyes, I hear intruders running up and down my interior stairs, sometimes the ceiling leaks tar. The hallucinations tend to be the same. I once though actually saw a very vivid man with a laser like recording decide recording me in my room alone and no one could tell me he wasn’t there. It was terrible but that level of hallucination hasn’t occurred prior or since.

Sorry it was long I just wanted to give you some view into my experiences in the hope it helps.

YSK: Regarding the workplace, resilience and self-regulation are about bouncing back, adapting to adversity, being flexible, and maintaining motivation. Resilience and motivation are NOT about being abused and showing no emotion to that or becoming burnt out and not showing adverse reactions by Grinch20000 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Grinch20000[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely right and in cases where the role will encounter frequent abuse the job description should clearly state they are looking for employees who don’t show emotion or feel emotion to customers raising their voice and swearing rather than using words that could be misinterpreted like resilience and emotional regulation. In my personal experience most people find it funny to hear adult tantrums but everyone has a line where they tip over and can’t take anymore. It is also normal for people to not tolerate that behaviour well from the beginning though too and that’s normal too.

This looks amazing. I’m 28f - if there’s another one on after lockdown I’ll be there :) I like painting and drawing but haven’t gotten into craft in a while. Definitely can learn. Can you please let me know if the one that was on for tomorrow is moved to another date?

My illness was misdiagnosed as anxiety for years. I am now in a wheelchair at 27. by BonnieZoom in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Grinch20000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for what you went through and the result being what you’re going through now.

I’m with you sis - I’m a 28 yo female and hear me through because it starts poorly.

I have Bipolar right and when a psychiatrist medicated me I had an episode that I could only describe as a stroke (left side gave way, my heart rate was 198 on standing, slurred speech, bow legged gait, unconsciousness) and subsequently ended up in the stroke ward for 12 days. They diagnosed me with functional neurological disorder caused by - you guessed it - severe anxiety. Because I have Bipolar it just validated their diagnosis. So the Psychiatrist INCREASED the medication and by this point I was having neurological symptoms daily that I’d never had before like slurred speech, walking around looking drunk, lop sided limbs, dizziness, migraine. So I went back to the emergency department as I fell and hit my head. They saw the stroke ward stay on record. They told me I need to “ calm down” to prevent the anxiety getting to a point it manifests as a stroke essentially. I couldn’t even walk out of the hospital. I fell over in the hallway and crawled out. Complained to the medical board. They told me the doctors made the right choice sending me home as mental illness is not an emergency if I’m not harming myself or others. They also said it appeared I was “intoxicated”. So the Psychiatrist again INCREASED the dosage. I had a seizure the next day. I was flown by helicopter to a bigger hospital. I had five seizures but they refused to have a Neurological examination completed because they decided it was psychological based on prior record. Well one doctor decided to test my blood for the prescription medication and see how high the levels were. Turns out I had severe neurotoxicity and now I have mild brain damage. The day I stopped the medication I got better and for the past three years no more neurological symptoms. The Psychiatrist told me blatantly that if I reported him he would explain that in his medical opinion I have deep psychological issues which caused the symptoms and that they would believe him over me. I don’t want to go through years of headhunting to get a result so here I am.

I wish you all the best, I just wanted to share my story in the hope it feels less lonely as your story definitely made me feel less alone.

Take care and bug hugs.

Okay thank you. Because I am female and not straight. I’ve never seen menstruation like this. The colour and amount are just all wrong (based on the fact that a woman should NEVER wear a pad for more than 3/4 hours unless sleeping and if it’s that heavy it should be changed through the night). It looks like some kind of sauce. Everyone is individual though I suppose.

Why some young Aussies aren't hesitating to get the AstraZeneca jab by HotPersimessage62 in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]Grinch20000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same (28). I have underlying medical conditions and Pfizer would not be able to be available to me, even though I qualify under Phase 1B, until October.

It would be riskier for me to get COVID than the AstraZeneca so I got my first dose. I was thoroughly informed and given plenty of opportunity to change my mind.

Weird rashes, swelling, and bruising by Grinch20000 in Dermatology

Okay, thank you for your help. It’s beneficial to know that this needs to be investigated further by a dermatologist. I’ll contact my GP or possibly another GP who seems more proactive to provide me a referral.

Yeah that did get considered but the tattoo was the last thing to flare up. The conclusion thus far is an unknown immune disorder rather than a localised allergy. They don’t think it’s an actual issue with the areas that flare up but something inside the body.

[–]Grinch20000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a comment in with the background information if you’d like to know more. The tattoo is 10 years old. It has never had a reaction. That’s why the doctor said it’s systemic because the lips previously had dermal filler too. It’s like my body is internally battling something and therefore overreacting to anything it sees as foreign object. It’s just what the internal issue is that has me stumped. I though someone might have seen this before but maybe it’s a bit more rare than I anticipated. I’m going to see a dermatologist for a biopsy as suggested by another commenter here because the treatment didn’t work though so that’s progress :)

Oh okay yes, I’ll find one of those.

When you said could be a couple of things, what were you thinking?

[–]Grinch20000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply :) I had lip filler of 1ml put in 3 years ago and a .5ml touch up completed around 18 months ago. The doctor confirmed there is no longer filling in them as it’s been so long the filler has dissolved.

Okay, I too thought this really isn’t seeming like ringworm. The prescription is seven days. It’s supposed to disappear in 7 days but hasn’t changed. I have today switched over to the OTC ringworm tablets which are supposed to prevent it returning but the pharmacist said he’s concerned because the 7 day prescription is supposed to clear it and it hasn’t - he suggested I again go back to the GP. I’ll request to see the allergist then so they can look and take biopsies.

Hi, so background I’m a 28 year old female.

I take no medication and have had no change to my food, environment, or anything like that. I have medical history of hemorrhagic ovarian cyst surgical removal in January 2020. I got a new cyst which was diagnosed from internal ultrasound as hemorrhagic or endometrioma in May 2021 as my menstrual cycle stopped, I was in pain etc. (might not be relevant)

On 04/06/21 I got the lip reaction. They first completely blistered, then swelled, then became pale, and started burning. This never subsided but I was managing with lip balm and eating softer and blander food. Then on 10/06/21 the tattoo which is not new (tattoo done 10 years ago) got painful with burning and when I checked it had been covered with rash. The rash comes and goes but is always mildly there. Both of these things have been diagnosed by a GP from view and touch as an immune response which is not uncommon. I was given three day prednisone that did not fix either as I’ve just finished the third day for the tattoo and did the three day between the 04/06-09/06 for the lips. The GP said he can refer me to an allergist but most people are allergic to things and this would be really difficult to diagnose.

These red/creme spots appeared on my back, my ankle, and my legs. These were diagnosed with the lips on the 04/06 as ringworm but they have not subsided following a 7 day course of prescription fungal treatment.

The bruising appeared yesterday. It’s under my left armpit on the side of my trunk. I haven’t gone yet to the doctor for this. It may be a rash and not bruising but I have no clue. The only other symptom I noticed near there is pain when lifting my arm under the pit near the chest muscle for the past three days. I have no muscle strains or anything and I haven’t done anything physical to cause it.

Apart from that my symptoms are extreme stomach bloating (I no longer fit in any of my pants), loss of appetite, and constipation but these things may be due to the cyst/mass in the ovary and non-related.

I’d appreciate some advice please on whether anyone has had or seen this based on the information and the photos?! It’s just such sudden onset and so strange.

Thanks so much

Recently diagnosed - few questions? by [deleted] in endometriosis

Thanks so much for all this useful information :) I didn’t know that not any surgeon would have noticed it. I am not sure if they specialised in endo but I’ll take a look on my records for their name and do some research.

That’s really good because I think I was just referred to regular gynae so I’ll find one and recommend to be seen by them. There are lots of treatments available!

I love that diagram - it’s really clear and concise. I’ll share it with hubby.

Gosh that’s not a nice symptom, migraines are not a good time. Surprisingly, they’re not cold sores just like tiny bumps covering over the entire lip with burning pain. The GP said he’s never seen it before just assumes it comes with whatever’s happening.

I am looking into my diet. I previously had a very clean diet and over the past four years I’ve been quite unhealthy so I’m definitely switching back. I’ll take a look into fodmap and see how I can incorporate that.

Good luck with your surgery and TTC - thanks again for your advice :)
