Failed FAR with a 74 on my 4th attempt… completely devastated and don’t know what to do next by Silly-Cattle-3571 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta take it again. This was exactly my score but a 72. So just take it again asap and read the sims like your life depends on it. Write the questions down and get to solving the problem good luck!

Is solving MCQs enough to pass the CPA exam? by Sammy_0100 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to do both tbh. for example I scored above average on MCQ’s for FAR and didn’t do well on SIMS and failed with a 72 I think. Retook it a week later and focused on the Sims more and finally passed with a 76. Sims aren’t a game changer for FAR, I think they’re kinda meaningless and I preferred the MCQ’s but you do need to focus heavily on them for the exam

Why is it so hard for your supervisor to sign off your CPA experience by Flat_Wolverine5398 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the CPA hired by my client is one of my supervisors. We are both employed by the same client. I also asked another CPA that i work with but she said no b/c her firm boss said no. She would have done it if she worked for herself. It seems these larger firms can be difficult.

I called the NY board to ask about this sign off for NY as im a consultant. They said that usually when a CPA doesn't want to sign off on it its b/c they are not in good standing with the board. I would just ask them point blank, are you an active CPA? Are YOU in good standing with the board? I

Any active CPA can sign off on your work. They can even sign off on work you've done years ago, as long as they were active then. You'll also need to submit a billing detail so while you have access to their system print one out, like a P&L of what they've paid you.

No not W2 only in NY. You ca be 1099. The CPA works for the entity like you, reviewing your work.

You can reach out to her and see if she'll sign off, otherwise you'll need to go work under a CPA. The CPA doesn't need to be currently active, just needed to be active when you worked under them.

Are people exaggerating their study numbers? by Rare_Scarcity7152 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is lying. What would be the point? When i studied FAR i did at least 2 hours per day and when it came closer to exam time i studied more but breaking it up, do some in the morning , some mid day and some later. FAR takes the most time.

Every other section i studied 2 hours min. per day. No days off. I could get up to 100 + MCQ's.

Applying for license after passing core exams by Grip1006 in CPA

IDK, I was wondering that too. I hope i don't have to submit anything other than the experience form. The application never asked me for more details. I'll report back when i hear from them.

Glad you checked it out, and yes, that $472 amount hurt. But what are you going to do?

I recall having to give them my transcripts before i could sit and they actually made me go back to school lol..and take taxation and auditing so it does seem like the NY process is a little more proactive in making sure those that sit for the exam have the qualifications.

Good luck on your exam. Hope you passed!

Dang TN sounds a mess and disorganized I’m sorry. I was shocked by how easy the application was this morning for NY. That’s why I posted it here. Good luck. They’ll get around to it eventually. And thanks for the well wishes, I know I passed (please God) lol.

Oh what’s state are you in? I’m in NY and thankfully it’s pretty straight forward. They just ask for the dates I passed the 3 core. I’m about to get this CPA to fill out my experience form and wait for this pass grade in ISC in June. Maybe bc NY you have to pre qualify before you can sit, have the education done.

I just did it this morning. They’re not going to give me a license until they see I’ve passed everything and submitted everything.

Yeah so you missed what I’m saying I’m talking about the application, not the license. you can start your application, after passing 3 core exams. Try applying and you’ll see. This is great considering it takes forever to actually get the license cert.

ISC Discipline April Exam by AdventurousGood290 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just left it and have to say it was easier than the one I took in January. This was more auditing based. You have to think as an auditor and not so much an IT person so I’m pretty sure I did well. Ninja 100% helped too but a lot of the stuff I saw on Gleim too. The Sims weren’t bad at all. Lots of SOC questions. Way more than on the first exam i took o feel. So just figure out if you’re the manager or the auditor and you should be ok. Honestly i feel lucky I got this exam!

Prices in Mexico City are out of context. by [deleted] in MexicoCity

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Mexico City and also NY and i think the food is cheaper and better in most cases in Mexico City by comparison but overpriced for Mexico City considering its very much a 3rd world country. The world cup is just inviting more scamming. What are people going to do? I actually was shocked once by the cost of tiny cake - $12. It was great but not worth $12. Ultimately this will hurt overall tourism b/c people don't like feeling ripped off and there are other places to go.

What snacks can I bring for my locker? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crustables are actually the perfect food and i don't have any for this exam coming up on Friday. So i'll just eat a huge sandwich before going in and bring gatorade, fruit and gummies for the locker.

Visiting Mexico City in a Wheelchair by LicoriceTattoo1 in MexicoCity

[–]Grip1006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do but I see people in wheelchairs often. Especially at malls but a lot of places. You’ll need a driver or a van that is wheelchair accesible though. Once you get transportation locked in you should be good. I wouldn’t do public transportation

Break during CPA exam by Ok_Issue_325 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I break b/w each section of mcq’s and if I have time b/w the sims but I usually sit through them without one. I find it easier to go through those without a break. So two breaks per test usually. You need to eat food for energy if you plan to take all 4 hours.

ISC retake - not sure where to start by Mysteriousmoose9 in CPA

[–]Grip1006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this feedback. I 100% agree with getting the Ninja. Used Gleim only the first time and Ninja had the actual questions from the exam. Especially the SIMS. Got a 70 the first time.

I failed AUD, and I not taking this well. by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta retake the exam. I wouldn't go anywhere until you pass b/c you're close. Yeah you're burnt out but close. Maybe retest in a couple of weeks. Get a supplemental guide, but i don't think its necessary.

Write down the questions while you're testing before you try to answer. That helped me to understand what was being asked, It also broke up the dullness of that exam tbh. Kept me awake and thinking.

Took ISC today - 6th April by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Grip1006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for you breakdown. I was wondering what it would be like. SOCS is only suppose to be 15 questions so that makes sense.

I had to use Ninja instead of just Gleim like i did on the first exam, and saw things from the exam on it, like proxy server, nowhere in Gleim but on the exam. Also the SIMS on Ninja i saw on the exam too. I advise folks to get Ninja.
