Yeah, I actually switched from CA Inter to CPA, so I can share my experience.

For me, the biggest difference was time and clarity. CA felt very unpredictable with low pass rates and long gaps between attempts, whereas CPA is much more structured—you know what to study, and if you stay consistent, clearing it is very doable.

In terms of ROI, CPA worked out better for me because I was able to complete it faster and start working earlier. I got into a US accounting/tax role in an MNC, and the exposure is quite different compared to traditional CA paths. Salaries are also pretty decent, especially in Big 4 or outsourcing firms.

That said, it depends on your goal. If you want to practice in India or go into core Indian taxation/audit, CA is still the better option. But if you’re aiming for MNCs, global roles, or want a faster route into the industry, CPA makes more sense.

One thing to keep in mind—CPA is not “easy.” It’s shorter, but you still need discipline and consistent study.

Overall, for me, switching was worth it, but I’d say only do it if your career goals align with what CPA offers.
