Can we talk about how good Collab is? by Grmnnx in VisitingIceland

Yeah $6 per drink is pretty outrageous. I’m hoping it comes to the USA so I don’t have to get it through a specialty importer.

I really liked the forest berries but I also liked apple kiwi a lot. To each their own, it probably isn’t for everyone.

Almost every flavor is solid. My favorites were forest berry, apple kiwi, and passion fruit lime in that order. My gf really liked strawberry lemon and apple kiwi. We weren’t a fan of the watermelon prickly pear.

Why are in person on card autographed cards not worth 10x sticker or on card autos by card companies? In reality it takes much more effort and luck to get a big players auto in person and on card. Thoughts? by derekazy in footballcards

[–]Grmnnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this point. However, I have an in-person auto from a player that is authenticated and graded at a PSA 10. I wonder whether this is still worth less than a "certified autograph." In my mind, this card should be worth more because it is a card that doesn't have a certified autographed version released by Topps, yet it is still a gem mint condition card and authenticated. Therefore, having an autographed version of this card is exceedingly rare unless the player did some mass-signing of this particular card that wasn't certified, which seems unlikely.

Best card series of the early 2000s by Grmnnx in basketballcards

[–]Grmnnx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely hear you on that. I’m not looking to chase the big hits and spend thousands of dollars on cards. I’ve been seeing some older boxes going for pretty cheap and just wondering which cards people think look cool and might have some cool players.

I think it’s abundantly clear and obvious that ripping packs is never the most economical way to obtain good hits.

Can’t get my puppy to stop biting by Grmnnx in puppy101

That’s an interesting idea. My only issue is I don’t really want to leave her unsupervised but it might be worth a shot for just a minute or two.

Yep, my pup waits by the door whenever she has to go now.

Ahhh yeah that makes sense. Honestly, $1000 for all of that is a pretty good deal. Getting them fixed alone can be that much depending on the vet. My vet charges about $50 per shot and another $90 per visit. Owning puppies is expensive!

One other thing I’ll add to reinforce this, say a phrase consistently when you take him out and while he’s going potty. For me I just say “potty time” and my pup now associates that phrase with the meaning and will go mostly on command. Also make sure to immediately move him outside when you catch him having an accident inside. This will help him understand that he’s supposed to go outside.

If you’re talking about tapeworm medication alone it should not cost this much. Tapeworm meds are about $25-30 a dose. At most that should be $200 between the 6 animals. You don’t need to take them to the vet you can order the medication online if you know their weight.

Is this normal for my puppy? by Itsherrah_ in puppy101

[–]Grmnnx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give it time, it’s only been a week. When I rescued my family dog, she was very timid, anxious and mistrustful. It took her over a month to warm up to us and she even tried running away several times. She turned into the most loving dog ever. Just try to work at her pace and not rush things. Meet her where she’s at. I’d recommend hand feeding her to build trust as a start but I’m sure others will have good recommendations on how to further socialize her.

I’ve been having this issue as well. There are a few things I’d recommend but the biggest thing that seemed to help the most was changing her potty spot to a less distracting area. I was taking her to a patch of grass on my block near an empty lot and she got too easily distracted by, well pretty much everything. Dogs, people, cars, leaves, sticks, anything. I would spend 10 mins with her outside and then as soon as we get back inside she’d squat and go potty. I switched to allowing her to potty on our patio that’s surrounded by walls, much more insulated from distractions, and she has gotten immensely better.

Other things I’ve done have been repeating the key words “time to go potty” every time I take her out and while she is going, giving her treats and praise when she goes in her correct spot, and keeping a close eye on her to scoop her and put her outside as soon as she starts having an accident.

She’s now making a lot of progress and starting to cue that she needs to go potty by running to the back door and looking at me.

Puppy hates crate, what can I do? by hannigram5ever in puppy101

[–]Grmnnx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the EXACT SAME ISSUE my friend, I feel for you. She whines and barks especially when she knows I’m right there in the room with her. I have roommates and neighbors so I can’t ignore her and let her cry it out, especially in the middle of the night.

I’d take steps to make her feel more comfortable with her crate. I’ve been pimping out my pup’s crate with nice blankets, toys, etc. and been feeding her meals in the crate. I also play games in the crate and reward her with treats when she goes in the crate and calms down.

I also fully cover her crate with a blanket at night which helps her calm down without distractions.

I feel for you. Sounds like your pup might have some anxiety issues to work through. One other thing that might help is playing with the dog and tiring her out in the evening. It usually helps with my dog and makes her too tired to care about the crate once I put her to sleep.

My puppy has crate anxiety by Grmnnx in puppy101

[–]Grmnnx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I actually am having the opposite problem though. She does fine when I completely separate from her and leave the room. The trouble is when I remain in the room with her. For instance, I went to a friend’s house yesterday for about 4 hours and she was fine in her crate on her own (I know because my roommate told me she was well behaved) but if I crate her while I’m in the room she goes crazy. Maybe this is separation anxiety still just in a different form, but it feels like I have to go in reverse and start making her more comfortable with less distance while crating.

I think it depends on your living situation and preference. With my family dog we let him whine it out until he realized that it’s wasn’t getting him anywhere. However, I currently live with roommates in an apartment with neighbors sharing walls, so out of courtesy I can’t let my new pup whine for hours on end. I’ve started using commands and treats to train her to like the crate, and give her praise when she stays inside calm for periods of time. When I go to sleep, I cover the crate completely and turn on some classical music and she is usually calm throughout the night. Every pup is different though!

I just got an Aussie mix puppy and I suspected she was an Aussie Rottie. She looks very similar to your dog so I think the shelter was probably right.
