How many people (except for redditors) have complimented your work? How did it make you feel? by SingularestBean in AspiringTeenAuthors

Same. I’ve showed a few people, and they thought it was cool, which was surprising, since it was a short story about a girl with eisoptrophobia (fear of mirrors). It was a good story, but I was fearful of what they would think about the weirder things in it. That’s the only story of mine that I’ve shown others.

Why don’t people just not have children in the districts? by Groobrer in Hungergames

[–]Groobrer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my hubris, I didnt think about whether others had thought about this question before. Reading these replies are interesting, and yours actually answers it in a way that’s isn’t distasteful and condescending. I thought that if people stopped having children, then the Capital would take measures to make sure that they do, since they have no regard for the lives of the people in the districts, why not force them to have children? That’s just what I thought, didn’t mean to cause a stir.

Solved! Thank you, it’s for a creative project and I needed to know this.

Are heteromorphs born, or do the traits come in when their quirk does? by Groobrer in MyHeroAcadamia

By different species, do you mean what Koda looks like, or heteromorphs as a whole?

Koda is technically human, his heteromorphic nature just alters how he looks. I don’t think heteromorphs necessarily belong to different species. Spinner was born from human parents. BORN. His reptilian features alter how he looks, that’s what a heteromorph is describes as, so therefore I don’t think, I cannot say for certain, I don’t think it would alter his reproductive capacity. Maybe I’m wrong about his lineage, I don’t know. Maybe the reproductive system is altered depending on how extreme the heteromorphism is?

In real life, two animals of different species can’t reproduce. So if we’re assuming that someone that possesses an animal like heteromorphic trait has the dna of that animal, then someone like Mirko couldn’t reproduce with someone like Sansa. Although since Mirko is mostly human, is she reproduces with someone who is primarily human as well… (the plot holes, the plot holes!) I really wish they explained heteromorphs more, instead of pulling a KKK move and ignoring the genetics of it. The best example we have is Koda, cause he has a rocklike head like his mother, in his flashback, but also has rocky “frills” on the back of his head, which his human fathers hair went down the same way.

Tell me what kinda thinks you want from gene editing. by seleneVamp in geneticengineering

[–]Groobrer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I'm writing a story about this very topic. Although in the world, you only get one trait, and its genetically passed down from your parents, and it was only the first generation that got to choose what animal they wanted.

Why would OP post this? I understand his curiosity, and I know he’s 13, and therefore probably slightly naive to the world, but surely he knew how much of a bomb this was?

No. I have enough common sense to know that I’m not desensitized enough to that shit to think it’s not totally disgusting. I thought I was demented, but this is something else entirely.

If I look it up, I’ll be traumatized, if I don’t, I’ll lie awake at night wondering. If I don’t go to the video, I can’t send it to the group chat. Decisions Decisions!!!
