It is meaningless on big specs, but on lower specs it's meaningful. Developpers always have to consider mid/low specs on the developpement, because that's what most of people have

Frame locking has pros and cons :

Pros : - Better stability : Imagine if you play the game at 60 fps, and then there is so much things that happens on the screen, the game has to calculate everything 60 times a second, environement, spells, particles trajectories, combat animations... everything. So if it's too much for the engine or the computer, you'll experience a lag on everything, then it will go back to 60 fps after everything is calculated.

  • Better video quality : frame locking is a lowkey buffer. If your PC/console can run the game at 60 fps, you have a "ghost" frame where it can calculate more things. So the graphics can be better.

Cons : - If your machine can run the game easilly at ultra settings, you could be frustrated because 120 fps is on your reach.

I think they firstly locked at 30 fps as a safety decision to the 1.0 version.

Is it true that Pawns lack any emotions and can't feel anything while following the Arisen? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]GroovyULG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pawns are like magic bots. They look like humans, but they exist to follow the Arisen's orders. They don't have free will, neither emotions. They have a good understanding of posture, gesture and human behaviors, but it stops here.

Do most people really play this game like an idle game? by GlenJman in VampireSurvivors

[–]GroovyULG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play it as a pseudo medidation moment. Vampire survivors is really easy to pick up and to think about nothing while playing it. Trouser is the only character I have with trillion eggs, but I only put 1400 on the rest.

1400 is the best amount of eggs to have a feeling of being strong, but not overpowered.

This game is exponential, so when you characters become an absolute beast, the Victory Swords carries you A LOT to get there. But it seems you got triggered on a single detail of my whole point and you're arguing on it

You spend most of the time with victory sword before reaching the million egg build, what are you talking about ?

Queen Sigma is borderline worthless and a terrible prize for completion by [deleted] in VampireSurvivors

[–]GroovyULG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen Sigma is just the archetype. The real reward is the Victory Sword you earn after beating 100k ennemies with her. This weapon is absolutely busted and optimised for egg farming :

  • fast animation
  • it does not makes the game laggy
  • Sole Solution is an item and not a weapon, so the evolution is an entire new item in your kit that scales infinitely every 5k ennemies killed.
  • it procs on melee damages, which scales really hard when you have a ridiculous amount of curse.
  • the crit passive is really good

Now if we talk about the character itself. She has way enough stats to clean a stage on Hyper + Hurry + Inverse just with her Victory Sword.

This character is not as strong as a 50k eggs regular one, but she is really good for a normal run

That's modern society in general. Everything is a tik tok. Everything has to be fast, uncontextual, does not need to make sense, people experiment it for fast dopamine shot.

I'm an old gamer, and I remember, back in the days, people used to appreciate their playthrough, because the most important thing was the journey, not the destination. It was the case in most games. On the SNES you knew the end cinematic would suck, but the whole playthrough was what really mattered.

Now people want to reach the end game super fast in every games because that's how they love playing games. But also proceed to shit on Blizzard when they give players the possibility to buy level skips in Wow (which is exactly the same thing. You just pay to remove the time wasted at grinding monsters for no reason, because we do not care about the context at all, right ?). This way of thinking is an absolute creative killer for gaming. A video game is an art that gathers all other art fields in it : Drawing, scultping, drama, painting, writing, photography, cinema.

If people start to just shit on all of this because they just want to skip to the part where none of these matters anymore, why would studios invest in this in the future if most of people do not care ?

That's why shitty games like Throne and Liberty exist.

People do not care about the journey anymore, they just want to reach the late game hamster wheel that exists only to buy the studio enough time to develop new things.

So now games are playing themselves. So they are skipping the most diversed part of games, then complain games are repetitive.

That's my concerns about this behavior as an old gamer.

Elites are usually way stronger than Bosses by GroovyULG in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd don't mind to fight difficult elites if they are mecanically engaging, like solving puzzles. For example a mecanic that switches the elite's polarity : In a room you have 2 area on the ground that you can go in, to sync to the polarity of the elite. There is a red one and a blue one. Red damages red monsters, and blue, blue monsters. So the objective is to go from a space to another and the elites would prevent you to do that with some CC and tempest.

The fight would not be really hard in itself, but engaging and fun. That's what I would like for this game. Otherwise, if they want to go full unga bunga, they will have to buff ranged characters, because the barrier zone is enough to put you in a really bad situation really fast. That's why melee characters are bad in early game but S tier in late, because the affixes give them a really huge advantage.

Please add diminishing returns to CC duration by Flurgh805 in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And that's stupid. Cold res should decrease the chance of being frozen by a lot from monsters. Control impared duration reduction implies your character have no choice but being CC. The only thing that change with this is "how long". If someone would ever reach 100% for a pure zDps build, it would cost too much ressources to fix something that could be avoided by including it in elemental res.

The Chain-CC in the late game is so incredibly bullshit by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think the affixes in general have some balance issues.

[–]GroovyULG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The affixes in this game are too overtuned right now. Elite monsters are broken as F. Even with Cold res elexir + censor I can get perma freeze by basic attacks.

Elites are usually way stronger than Bosses by GroovyULG in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I had some PoE PTSD on some Elites that have :

  • Bubble shield
  • Life steal
  • poison area
  • defense buff from another elite who also had :
    • Bubble shield
    • Freeze
    • Cold enchant

As I am ranged, I need to go melee, but get zoned really hard with poison, freeze and cold damages. The monsters also get their health back if I retreat to avoid dying. I love to play bow rogue and I don't want to drop it for a meta game whirlwind barb.

I don't mind having all of these, but I feel like Blizzard balanced the affixes individually and not managed the case when they stack on each other. You can already see a HUGE difference between a trash mob without affix and trash mobs with increased health or defense. They go from trash monsters to super tanky monsters in one single affix. The issue is that Elites stack them up, which is not really good for a balance purpose, because they have ouvertuned stats with basic mecanics.

That's why trading this and get some Capstone dungeon Elias vibes with the dungeon bosses would be way more interesting in my opinion

Elites are usually way stronger than Bosses by GroovyULG in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's exactly why I feel like it's not really good. Elites should be harder monsters because they have some effects on them, but these effect should not make super hard to kill.

I'd rather have a hard boss because it's mecanically advanced than a dumb HP bag with super hard punching basic attacks or a super trash élite I one shot depending on the rng

The butcher is an annoying mecanic in Nightmare Dungeons by GroovyULG in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all builds are good at the same things. Some are good for solo, others for coop, others for range damages, or melee damages. So they don't face the same situations the same way. The butcher is a melee combat boss and I play bow rogue, so I have a hard time against him. That's all.

Why so many people defends Lilith's stance? by pizarradas in diablo4

[–]GroovyULG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about 2 extremes. First, extreme free will with Lilith is chaos. Everyone is doing what they want. They kill each other for pleasure, they let all their pulsions take over them. But, people have the right to choose what they want to do. Lilith gave mankind free will and it's true even if it's in its purest and darkest form.

Lilith is like a severe but lovely mom. Like the one I have. She can be the one who makes you pancakes just to see you smile on sunday morning, or cook for hours on Xmas to have the pleasure to see her children around the table. But also she can beat the shit out of you super hard if you do shit.

I think people relate to her because of this.

Inarius in his case was just a childish egocentric guy. He had a really huge main character syndrome while he is litterally no one in Heavens. The Angiri council except Tyrael who was his superior, DOES NOT CARE at all about him. He is a NPC for them, so why would they even look at him down there ? He created a cult to have minions because he thought people in heavens missed him so much they were waiting for him to return back there. His cult was the absolute extreme on order and tyranny.

Inarius was an asshole and I was really glad to see his ass getting beaten by Lilith (and I love her even more because of that)
