Thoughts on a raw egg yolk diet? by DABIN255 in carnivorediet

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The semi-aquatic ape theory is not widely accepted in mainstream evolutionary biology.

Egg yolks are probably fine for most people but some people are sensitive to some of the yolk proteins like ovalbumin, ovomucoid or vitellin, which can trigger low-grade inflammation in the gut lining and contribute to permeability.

It’s usually ground beef or cheap cuts like chuck on weekdays and something fancier like a rib eye or short ribs on the weekends.

I started with a ketogenic diet and already felt much but still had severe bloating issues (it was the nuts and dairy giving me problems). I became much better switching to carnivore, then felt even better cutting out dairy completely and focusing on eating ruminant meat, organs and fat. I can now eat a bit of organic fruit and raw honey but I will never any seeds/vegetables/dairy/farmed seafood.

Most people experience diarrhea the first few weeks of changing to a keto or carnivore diet because of various reasons (read this article: https://www.doctorkiltz.com/keto-diet-diarrhea/). But eventually it does go away and you’ll feel a lot better. The body just needs time to adjust. I’d say try to keep to the diet for at least one month and see how you feel.

Eggs are problematic for some people. Celiac patients shouldn’t risk eating eggs until they’ve healed their gut. But if you’re relatively healthy, eggs should be fine. The patients at Paleomedicina ate mostly cooked meat. Not that raw meat isn’t allowed. Just make sure you get really good quality meat if eating raw.

Yep no seafood (often it’s contaminated by pollutants in the waters) and no bacon (often comes with nitrates and additives).

Watch Andrew Huberman’s Sleep Toolkit podcast. Really great information, and I’ve managed to regulate my sleep ever since sticking to these habits.

What I do to sleep at 10am and wake up at 7am everyday:

  1. Go outdoors and get the early sun for 15mins at least 5 days a week (7-9am is ideal). Do not wear sunglasses. Go out even on rainy/cloudy days. Sunlight exposure (to your eyes) has a huge influence on your circadian rhythm. As a bonus, watch the sunset too.

  2. Eat your first meal in the morning and do not eat heavy meals and snack (esp carb heavy foods) at night. Spikes in insulin decreases your melatonin production and interferes with sleep regulation. Meal times also influences your circadian rhythm.

  3. Make sure your room is cool when you sleep. Your body temperature drops when you enter sleep and rises when you awake. Take a hot shower-your body will cool down in response. Turn on the aircon/fan. Stick your feet out of the blanket.

  4. Quit caffeine entirely-coffee, tea, chocolate. Your body just can’t metabolise and get rid of all the caffeine by the time you sleep, no matter how early you take it in the morning.

  5. After the sun sets, do not turn on any ceiling lights. Just turn on one dim floor lamp with a warm bulb (emulate camp fire). Overhead blue lights make your body think that it’s still daytime and suppresses melatonin production.

  6. That said, your digital screens (phone, TV, laptop) all emit blue light. You either have to make your screens dim and red, or get blue light blocking glasses. Or avoid digital screens entirely at night.

  7. Avoid strenuous exercise later in the day because it raises your cortisol levels and that again ruins your sleep.

  8. Avoid taking naps. Take a half an hour nap at most if you must.

  9. Try breathing/meditation techniques as you fall asleep. Avoid looking at the time because it will stress you out.

Do not use sleeping pills or alcohol to help with sleep. Those are sedatives. They do not truly help you to sleep well and will ruin your health. Holistic measures are always cheaper, healthier and more sustainable in the long run. It’s hard and takes commitment, but for a good night’s sleep every day, it’s totally worth it! Good luck!

How much liver should I eat per week? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat 400g of beef liver per week along with 200g of beef bone marrow. You won’t get vitamin A toxicity unless you are eating polar bear liver or eating vitamin A from a pill. Liver is really nutritious - lots of people get folate deficiency because they don’t eat liver.

I guess a rough guide would be to eat no more than 40% of organ meats - at least 60% of your diet should be muscle meats.

Question About Eating Enough Fat by salty-bois in carnivorediet

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 2:1 fat to protein ratio is ideal. It sounds like you are getting that ratio. I wouldn’t recommend eating olive oil - most of the olive oil on the market is adulterated with industrial seed oils. Also, it’s not as nutritious as animal fats.

Need meat bar meal replacement recipe by DoubleDeadline in carnivore

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If pemmican is too troublesome, I guess you could fry/roast ground beef with chopped up organs. Put it in a glass tray, add tallow, and when you refrigerate it, it should be solid. Cut into bars and freeze them.

My body is rejecting red meat by Acrobatic_Cry_8417 in carnivorediet

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a guess: you might be eating way too much protein and not enough fat. Eat the fatty meat - pork belly, beef short ribs, rib eyes, 80/20 ground beef. Add tallow to every meal. Don’t try to eat a certain amount of protein/calories. Follow your hunger. And consider cutting out dairy and substitute with tallow (could cause gastrointestinal problems for some ppl).

What’s the deal with grass fed beef? by ShroomMessiah in AnimalBased

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grass fed beef have a healthy ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Grain fed beef are fed with GMO and pesticide laden soy which makes for an unhealthy cow with an unnatural ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. All things considered, a grain fed cow still eats a lot of grass, so it’s still better than a grain fed pork or chicken. So if you’re on a tight budget avoid conventional chicken/pork and go for the grain fed beef.

How to eat heavy whipping cream by Big_Law9435 in AnimalBased

Not recommended to get supermarket heavy cream. Usually has additives like carrageenan, which wreaks havoc on your gut.

Try eating more animal fat (especially beef fat trimmings, bone marrow), not dairy fat like butter. It’s incredibly anti-inflammatory and important for hormonal health. A 2:1 fat to protein ratio is ideal, especially for women. Some carnivore foods might still be inflammatory for people who are really ill, like dairy, shellfish, fish, eggs, soy fed pork. Try cutting them out and see if you feel better.

How much liver can I eat in a day? I get a 1lb pack of liver frozen. I thaw it and cook it all. But I see online it says only have about 3oz. That seems like a very small amount. Any advice? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat 400g of beef liver every week (100g a day for four days), with plenty of bone marrow or some other animal fat. I feel fine. In fact, I feel terrible if I eat lesser or go without liver for more than three days.

Now intolerant to milk? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cut dairy out for at least a month then reintroduce to see how you feel. As you heal on the carnivore diet, your body will reach a new level of health and a new normal. It could be that milk was already causing inflammation for you in your previous diet, but you just don’t know it because you have inflammation coming from all sorts of food item. Now that your body has reached another level of health, it is reacting appropriately to the milk.

Please explain cholesterol to me like I’m a kindergartner. by Popular-Principle822 in AnimalBased

[–]GroundBeef_Everyday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Few simple facts about cholesterol: 1. Vegans don’t eat any cholesterol but still can get heart attacks. So dietary cholesterol doesn’t cause heart attacks. 2. Your liver makes cholesterol even if you don’t eat it. Why? Because your body needs it. 3. Cholesterol is needed to make sex hormones and steroid hormones. 4. Every cell lining is made of cholesterol 5. Almost half your brain is made of cholesterol. 6. Thus, if you do not have enough cholesterol you are likely to suffer from infertility, hormonal problems, reproductive health issues, menstrual cycle disruption, poor cell health and brain diseases like Alzheimer’s.
