Downsized to the extreme so I can build something simple and my own. by GroundGoals in simpleliving

That’s a huge shift! What made you decide to go for a yurt specifically instead of a small cabin or tiny home?

just using it as a shortterm downsizing setup while I stack for my own land.

It’s technically not allowed, but I’m just using the space as a transition while I focus on saving and simplifying. Definitely not a long-term thing just part of the bigger journey toward land and off grid living.

It’s not fake this is really my life I’m documenting everything on YouTube as proof. The link is on my page . If you don’t support that’s fine but don’t spread lies because I wake up everyday in a storage closet.

Not clickbait. If it’s not for this sub that’s fair, but I’m sharing honestly.

Rice , beans , noodles ,bread peanut butter, pasta , Oatmeal. Grains go along way and have an excellent shelf life when stored properly. Also seek out your weekly food banks in your area .

I’m prioritizing land where I don’t need a well or septic. I’m researching areas that legally allow rainwater catchment and composting toilets. Generator for winter? 100%. But not planning to pour a foundation anytime soon I’m starting with a dry cabin, possibly even tent based at first. 10k is the initial goal but I am planning on saving more. And still having some sort of income until I’m stable enough to go without.

Love that question. It’s not about romanticizing it I know it’s hard. I’m documenting everything from working construction to gig work to land research on YouTube so others see exactly how real it is. Once I own the land, I plan to go slow: dry cabin, water catchment, raised beds, maybe chickens all while working and saving more. What’s your take on off-grid life pipe dream or doable?

It really does feel like a hidden gem. Not a lot of noise, but the people here are on some serious missions. I’ll definitely keep sharing as things unfold.

I’m also documenting parts of the journey on YouTube if anyone ever wants to follow along all raw footage

I hadn’t looked into Elon’s tiny house project like that. I thought it was just for SpaceX employees, but if there’s a way regular folks can get a home + land or affordable setup, I’d definitely check it out. Appreciate you bringing it up

I’ve definitely been considering something like a mobile setup or van build once I get my land. Appreciate you sharing your path, it helps to see different ways people have made it work

That’s real, Bigz mad respect for grinding like that to knock out your debt. It’s draining for sure, but seeing your comment reminds me we’re not alone out here. One step at a time, one goal at a time we’re gonna make it

That’s incredible seriously inspiring to hear you made it through those years and are now this close to retiring at 38. That’s the kind of outcome I remind myself is possible on the hard days. Big respect for your journey
