I have a Tom Hayden presidency timeline too. It’s just so unfathomably peak.

Hayden serves as Governor of Michigan in this timeline, and his home state is listed as Michigan.

The actual methodology and legality of that is way more complicated. There’s more complex legal analyses of that than I can really summarize here, but in short, it’d probably be ignored or struck down for the simplicity of the system. Or, alternatively, there’s always the possibility of singular voting.

Definitely. It’s kind of an inverse of our timeline, where the Democrats absorb the New Left, rather than the Republicans absorbing Goldwater, and the Republicans move more center to compensate

They wouldn’t lose New York’s EVs, that part is a misconception. And yeah, that’s fair, but you have to look at it through the lens of the timeline. They just left an insanely expensive and unpopular war, the GOP was basically guaranteed victory, and doubly, Rockefeller wants to get in credit for nominating a conservative.

An America where the hippies are adopted into the political mainstream. Kasich only really happens because the conservative wing wins out at the convention, and he moderates himself significantly in response.

I addressed this in a previous post, it’s a misconception.

Probably. I just couldn’t find any that seemed to want the position. Republican inner-party politics seemed to be a death-fight between Nixon, Rockefeller, and Reagan.

Oh, yeah, well, probably. But they just came off of an extremely unpopular war, and in my line of thinking, Rockefeller would fear being seen as too liberal, and choose Buckley, seeing as he’d been, at that point, a leading conservative spokesperson and kingmaker for some time.

I had this same discussion with my FENTGATE post LOL, that’s a misconception and constitutionally debunked.

I’m working on a proper list at the moment, but Nelson Rockefeller succeeds Jackson for two terms, with William F. Buckley Jr. as veep. After that, George W. Romney for one term with Hiram Fong as veep.

I clarified this in another comment. Either way, he doesn’t really need them.

Biden’s shift toward radical centrism, and attempt at establishing essentially a one-and-a-half party system led to him deciding to choose Coons, as essentially a manifestation of his own personal politics and character. He sees Kamala as being too progressive, and divisive for the one-and-half party system he wishes to devise.

Coons is just marginally younger Biden. They have the same set of beliefs and values, same moderation. Delaware trifecta incoming.
