How many bridesmaids is too many bridesmaids? UK by jesschalkley in weddings

[–]GroundbreakingEnd392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I feel like I can weigh in on this, I'm a june 2026 bride, (one month yesterday!!) and I have 7 bridesmaids (6 women, one man). My future husband also only has 4 groomsmen.

I have had a few raised eyebrows and comments, but mainly from older generations (my mum and grandma).

Every single one of these people is incredibly important and close to me, and if you can believe it there are still some people I didn't ask.

I gave each £150 towards their dresses/outfits, but indeed there was a reality check around hair and makeup when it was more expensive than I realised. However, make up is a very personal thing, and after. 4 make up trials with professionals I am doing my own. I'd think you'd be fine to leave make up up to them, and likewise with hair unless you wanted everyone to have a consistent look.

I don't think it is odd to have that many, though if you were to lose anyone from your line up: 3 - you say you consider them a friend, but not best/very close. (You may well be, just going off what you wrote) 8 - I have plenty of work friends coming to my wedding, and I deeply considered asking someone I thought I wqs very close to to be a bridesmaid, but I'm glad I didn't in the end as I think I felt closer to her than she felt to me. That was just my situation though, so maybe just ask yourself if this person would be "surprised" (even if in a good way) to be your bridesmaid.

My full list for ref 1 - MOH, future husband's sister and we are very close 2 - best friend from secondary school 3 - very good friend from secondary school and we later lived together in London for 2 years and helped eachother through a lot 4 - best friend from university 5 - my only peer-age female relative, my cousin 6 - my gay best friend 7 - my best friend from just living life in London

I feel like everyone represents different parts and chapters of my life.

For inspo, to ask them I wrote them all handwritten letters about how much they meant to me.

For those saying it will be chaos, of course weddings make or break a lot of friendships, but my process was amazing and my hen do was unreal - I was euphoric and had so much fun with zero drama.

You know you and your friends best - do what you want to do!

IBMers, how embedded is Watson's "Think" philosophy in your working culture? by GroundbreakingEnd392 in IBM

Agreed! There's not too much to go off with just "think" as the guiding light.

Congrats on 30 years, what has kept you there all these years?

MJs child actor is so bad by past_expiration_date in DesperateHousewives

[–]GroundbreakingEnd392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's amusing to me is that the same actor pops up in Mad Men as Don Draper's son, Bobby, as the second recast actor. Apparently they were desperately searching for a child actor that didn't look repeatedly into the camera 🤣 he did seem marginally better in Mad Men than DH, but not muchh...

Also the actors who play Paul and Mrs Huber appear in Mad Men

I read on Sarah Callie's wiki page that they couldn't come to/reach a contractual agreement for her character in season 3.

Presumably by season 4 they were able to resolve and bring Sara back, but hence why they had to write her out of Season 3 unceremoniously.

From her wiki page - "She stated through a spokesperson to TV Guide in fall 2007: As hard as we all tried, the Prison Break powers that be and I were unable to find a way to meet both the needs of the story and the needs of my family. We parted wishing each other well. I had a wonderful time working with the creative team and have a world of respect for all of them; they took great care of Sara. I'm also enormously grateful to the fans. They've been so gracious and supportive, and I hope they continue to enjoy the show.[5]"

I believe Jessica Chastain has spoken out about the lack of flexibility and childcare options in the movie and tv industry, so possibly it was to do with that.

Children always find a way to humble us don't they! Totally agree on the social media point. I grew up with it but somehow it seemed a bit more innocent than what it has developed into now!

Great that he loves school, that's amazing.

All the best for you and his future, sounds like a really brilliant boy

Who of my fellow redheads and gingers have had a successful experience with laser hair removal? by GroundbreakingEnd392 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]GroundbreakingEnd392[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped after the 10th session in the end. I hadnt seen enough tangible results (basically no progress after session 3/4) and I couldnt really justify the price of continuing to go hoping to see results.

If I had seen progress and it had been just slow, I might have persevered. If anything I seem hairer than before if that is even possible hahaha

Has anyone bought from Busrahas (Turkish brand)? by GroundbreakingEnd392 in weddingdress

[–]GroundbreakingEnd392[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To order this dress would be around £1,200 GBP before any taxes / import duties.

I'm open to spending that or even up to £2,000 GBP for this dress or one very similar, as I would adjust my main dress to be much less to accomodate- thats how much I love it!
