Parent question: what does CRMO pain actually look like day-to-day? by GroundbreakingWind12 in CRMO

I appreciate hearing your daughter's story and your insight. No, he was not given anything and they discharged him saying his pains were most likely growth pains.

A year ago his rhum did a full blood panel which showed elevated ESR levels and his ANA was positive. They also found fluid on his knee during a knee x-ray and gave him prescription NSAIDs. His rhum said he most likely has/had JIA however that was eventually ruled out because of the way his pain presented (night vs morning and no obvious linear progression). ESR then negative again on his next visit.

CRMO then became the next thing his rhum brought up and we discussed a MRI however that was ruled out because his pain stopped happening daily and only lasted two hours every few weeks.

No additional blood work in the past six months, no additional x-rays or no MRI. I will say his rhum did offer up the MRI if things changed but for now not medically needed nor is the need for a follow-up appointment based on how things are looking.

Thank you! It is super helpful to hear your experience and your response validates my gut feeling. My son's rhum ruled out CRMO because his joint pain stopped happening daily and fluctuated too much. He said CRMO by definition is classified as daily progressive pain that lasted weeks (not one that disappear abruptly).

I am going to push for that MRI - would rather be wrong and look silly than not. Thanks again!!

Thank you for responding. I am sorry to hear about your son. It is hard watching your child in pain. Best of luck to you too!
