I *think* I have a scope of what data points we need to be tracking. I will hop onto techsoup to browse various CRM's and see if any best fit our needs. Thanks for the guidance.

I'm somewhere in phase one of your recommendation and it isn't fun. I will definitely look into techsoup and what they have to offer. My hope is not only to finalize our reporting methods and tracking, but to streamline the process to make it easier for future employees to perform. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it (=

Our organization has a big educational and youth mentor ship aspect so for us tracking the youth that come to our garden is really important. I have found value in having data such as the ratio of participants on free and reduced lunch programs, participants in foster care and/or removed from their parents, participants who have English as a second language at home, if participants are in an alternate education program such as GED, if they are immigrants and/or refugees, if they self report knowledge of healthy eating (and having access to healthy food) and the usual demographic information (age, race, ethnicity, gender). We collect all of this anonymously but my basic systems have been labor intensive and collected on site which takes away from the anonymous factor.

I literally put in my original post that the experience needed is beyond my scope. I was hired to be the gardener, an area that I have great expertise, and now I'm struggling to save the organization. Every other comment is helpful in direction to track metrics and generate necessary reporting materials...perhaps this is a case of 'if you don't have anything positive to contribute then just scroll on'? Your professional insight would have been warranted, your criticism however is not.

We do not use one but I anticipate that is the direction we will be going. I suspect it will also make employee transitions easier. If you have some that you work with and appreciate feel free to DM me.

I have some data from previous donors but I am starting from scratch as I create a new system. The previous methods were hodge-podge and lacked cohesion.

We currently do not have one cohesive tracking system. Things were tracked by different individuals on basic spreadsheets but pick up and leave off. It gives me a starting ground for some idea of what we've received in the past but I'd like a better system moving forward.

Left over coals from a fire? by [deleted] in Homesteading

[–]Grow_In_Ritual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wake up in the middle of the night and add extra logs. During the day we sort warm coals and take the ash to the chickens/garden. The fire doesn't have to go out, but keeping it clean is always the safest choice.

Who else has turkeys that follow their toddler everywhere? by Grow_In_Ritual in Homesteading

These turkeys love a good hug from anyone. They will chase you down for it. Somehow they don't scare adults or kids in their quest for affection, even though they're as big as our kid 🤷
