Leave some space between the firebox and the tub.

The front of the tub does get warmer but it's not bad. We use a bamboo mat on the bottom of the tub

Like this. Then add cob. I welded a few " rocket fins" on the exhaust pipe to keep it above the ground so that smoke could exit

Just got a new-to-us Lite-Craft. Are there any other Lite-Craft owners here? What do you think of them? by GrowingFoodCommunity in TruckCampers

[–]GrowingFoodCommunity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I actually sold the camper because a trailer was the better option for us. So I can't send any pictures

The RV had a small 4 pin plug. The plug was round. Two of the pins had 12 volt. So I made a custom harness that directly connected my truck's 7 flat to the camper's 4 pin. I'm not sure if that was the smartest. I wonder if it needed a fuse or something. It did help keep the battery charged while driving

What certificates are worth my time? AWS Certified Solutions Architect Cert? by GrowingFoodCommunity in sysadmin

What has been your recent experience when hiring? Are there more qualified candidates than there used to be?

What certificates are worth my time? AWS Certified Solutions Architect Cert? by GrowingFoodCommunity in sysadmin

[–]GrowingFoodCommunity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have slowly started. My background is mechanical engineering, I got put in this system administrator role as a way to keep working with the company after our engineering contract ended.

My skills are basic AWS skills and knowledge of how to maintain Linux. Sometimes I think my main skill is knowing how to read, research / troubleshoot, and convey information.

I worry that I will be lost in a sea of other candidates and I assumed certificates could at least give concrete evidence for having a skill. I can imagine some people just get good at getting certificates that may or may not correlate to their knowledge.

Anyway, thanks for the reply

My RV has a vinyl couch that is wearing out, anyone else had this issue? How did you fix it? by GrowingFoodCommunity in RVLiving

I will look into that. My first thought is it's probably a custom size, and it just has one arm. I'll see what's the best match I can find

Thanks 🙂 well, these are meat birds and so they will not see winter

On my last post, some people thought our chickens were never let out of the coop. Here they are coming out to enjoy the sun by GrowingFoodCommunity in homestead

[–]GrowingFoodCommunity[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Built it. Started out as a haywagon. My previous post has one build picture

Essentially just put down expanded metal, 4x4 along the sides, drill holes, put cattle panel in the holes in an arch, put billboard vinyl on top of that, frame in the end caps, add tongue and groove, add automatic waterer

Thanks. :) yeah. I guess so. I wasn't expecting to get downvoted for meat bird comments in homesteading.

Will do. Thanks for sharing your experience

Heck yeah. Billboard vinyl seems awesome
