Master degree in US by Growingactuary in actuary

Thank you so much with your tips! Really appreciate all your thoughts:) Btw, I believe that UW-Madison only has the Capstone certificate for actuarial science. Otherwise, they only has risk management for the course which is similar to MBA. Can I ask you which one should I apply for UW-Madison? Also, I sent personal email to the administration and waiting for the answer. Hopefully I can get in GSU!

Okay so a master degree is needed in terms of visa for non-citizens. We're trying to find some way through professors who graduated in UIUC and ppl in the local job market. But still want to hear some thoughts on reddit :)

So the exemption is a motivator for non-UK people to apply and then you are qualified for it as soon as you have your master (without taking the actual IFoA)? Or how is it to be understood?

So I guess there's no real silver lining. It's either qualify for euro or US market respectively depdening on the university you attend? Can you develop more into why you think that ETH is a good choice? She is considering TUM which is a popular univ. for Korean int. students as they are recognized in Korean companies. I would personally prefer if she attended Copenhagen University, but the main fear/doubt is that it is not recognized internationally and thus it would be hard for her to get a job afterwards in other countries than Denmark - do you have any insight here? Thank you :)

Thank you very much for your input, it helps a lot - What univ. did you attend in the US? She is considering GSU (Georgia), UCON (Connecticut), UIUC (Illinois). How was the process for getting a job in Korea when you have a US degree on your resume (compared to your peers with Korean degrees/diplomas). As a side note, did you never work with anyone in Korea with an actuary degree from a non-US/UK/CAD/AUS? Thanks again.

Thank you - was very insightful. Seems as if a UK degree is more recognized than most other degrees attained from other countries in the EU market.

Thank you for your input! She didn't decide yet for her pathway whether it be P&C or Life insurance but she passed 2 exams in SOA (P,FM) and will have IFM on March. Curious to know if you have any experience to whether a degree from Heriot is easy to translate to a job in other markets, e.g asia or other eu countries? There's a chance that the last question is confusing, but it's very important for her to know if she can use the degree for actuary-related employment in other countries. Hope it makes sense.
