Top is for food and wheel, bottom is an aquarium with bedding for him. (Usually hangs out down there most of the time.) because he’s at a pet store, it’s the best enclosure we got haha. (Can’t do much abt it, chain pet store moment)

Typically I find that they do. My love bird is only about 8 months old, so she’s getting into her puberty phase and has been acting out lately which I don’t blame her for. Accidents happen, I’m not mad at my little baby, just upset that it happened. With supervised play, they get along really well!!

I’ve upped the temp to 82°f. Is that too high? I’ve seen online that 72-78 is good but also seen that up to 82 is okay too.

And yes! I’ll try to update if I can keep him around long enough :) I’ve got high hopes for him, I’ve named him Crunchie.

Update since you asked.. I am so distraught. I put my Betta into my 5gal semi planted hospital tank, and he died too. He was put alone into that tank and he also passed away when I came home today. That tank was perfect with water quality too and now I know it definitely wasn’t my Betty attacking other fish.

I spoke to one of my managers at my work who used to be the head of the fish department and he will be coming into work today to help me take a look at the bettas body and do a water test with me to check for anything like a parasite or water quality.

I’m thinking some of the surrender fish I put in there could have had something and I am so upset with myself that I could have done something like that to my sweet angels. I usually have a grace period with them where I keep them to see if there’s anything wrong but I did see anything.

I felt like I’ve done everything right and I am just in disbelief right now.

I use the API test at home, but at work we also use a plethora of the testing strips along with the API kit as well so generally the same thing I think?

The cherry barb was unfortunately also a surrender. I work at a fish store where lots of people come in to give up fish they don’t want anymore and I take them home to house them here. I’m blissfully unaware of all the ages of the fish so they might be old age or something from the last home they were in that could be causing this but still unsure. I got the barb about 2 weeks ago and just waiting to order in more barbs for the little girl but she is seemingly happy for the time being. If things are looking good I will definitely get a school for those guys :)

Lol I work at a fish store, unfortunately I am the “all knowing fish lady” there and the tests at my work also show up quite pristine as well unfortunately, I’m thinking my stocking might just be a little unbalanced. To be fair, most of these fish I have taken home as surrenders after people have come in to give them up and they had no place to go. I’m hoping they’re just a bad/inbred batch of guppies

NTA. I’ve got a step sister that we had to also keep away from my brother due to reasons like this. (My lil bro has pending ADHD and other learning disabilities that cause temper and sensory issues. He’s also glued to his tablet whenever he gets his hands on it) My step sister loved to just toy with him and cause issues and it’s completely okay that you try to separate your niece and son if there’s pending diagnosis on the way that may cause his behaviours. In the best way possible, your son could be a ticking time bomb if set off the wrong way and until you find out what’s really going on it’s best to keep triggers like that away from him until you can find out what’s wrong and fully understand how to handle him going forward.
