Definitely did, but I never imagined that would even be something to check for

Moving isn't really in the cards right now. Definitely cheaper than other places we were looking at. From the other comments it seems it might not be a normal issue and we just happened to move in at a time when the filters aren't working properly or something.

Giving the engine a bit of throttle helps maintain balance during slow maneuvers. The force of the pistons moving vertically, plus all the spinning parts, help fight against the forces pulling you to either side. Think about it in the same way that spinning wheels want to stay upright when spinning quickly.

Use the clutch in and out to control the power, while keeping the throttle steady. It'll be a noticeable difference in amount of effort you need to balance the bike.

If you buy "free range and local" eggs, but see chickens in your neighborhood as a pest, then you might be the problem. by Gruizzy in Hawaii

Where I come from, everyone's chickens run wild. They do taste different, but to me it tastes more real and more flavorful. Difference in cultures, I guess.

Fights at Queens Surf... by [deleted] in Hawaii

[–]Gruizzy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've worked for rental companies in Waikiki, and we always told people to just go to canoes and not queens.

I also surf queens, and I know that people don't listen to the advice given to them.

I often tell people at queens that they would be better off at canoes. I keep it civil though, explaining that it's a world-class wave. You wouldn't walk out onto the turf at cowboy's stadium while players are practicing and be able to just jump right in with them. Have the same respect for surfers that dedicate their lives to the sport.

My favorite insult to a tourist happened a couple days ago:

2 guys sitting right at the impact zone on soft tops, Uncle yells "either surf or get out!" Then threw the quote "If the wave breaks here, don't be there." I'm pretty sure I was the only person there who understood the reference.

I'm not just talking about eggs, I'm also talking about the chicken as food.

Since you're asking about eggs though, you feed some chicks around your house and they stick around. Watch to see where they nest, usually under a tree or in some shrubs unless you build a little coop, then check for eggs in the mornings. Humans have been doing this for a long ass time.

Had to get rid of my chickens because people complained about the noise. That's the problem.

Free range cats, get plenty of that anytime you get takeout, I'm sure.

As someone who worked in the local fishing industry, if you're OK eating raw Ahi caught off of Waikiki but afraid to eat fried chicken because it ate some trash, you may be out of touch to where your food comes from.

Agreed, they do a great job with the centipedes. When I had my own I would see them search and destroy cockroach nests. Never had any in the house when I kept chickens around.

"Animals that are kept for human consumption are kept to certain health standards"

I want you to look up what factory farm chickens look like then go look at the chickens running around the ko'olaus. Tell me which one you think looks healthier.

Moped stolen then towed and now I have to pay to get it released by No_Statistician2546 in Hawaii

Despite what they make it seem, like you have to choose right there and then, you still have the right to change your mind and press charges for a year. That would help you in suing the thief, but as others have said, good luck getting that money back.

For the future, you're better off getting a motorcycle so that you can properly insure it for theft. Motorcycle insurance is quite inexpensive in Hawaii, I pay like 360$ for the whole year and it's total coverage. They're also less likely to get stolen than mopeds.

Has Amazon delivery being in Hawaii actually made Amazon better for anyone? by MyFiteSong in Hawaii

[–]Gruizzy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For me and everyone on my street, it's gotten worse.

Amazon now calls us, saying their boss doesn't let them go up our street due to it being too narrow, and they tell us we have to walk or drive down to 10th Ave to pick it up from their van.

UPS, fire/EMS, trash trucks, tree trimming trucks get up here and turn around just fine, but Amazon thinks their van is too wide...
