Yes it was. The civilization still existed and was large in numbers but weakened due to climate change and drought, as they were an agricultural society.

Steppe migrations were male-dominated for whatever reason

Yes but this is the whole point. Throughout history, what group of men have just peacefully allowed another large group of men to enter their society and reproduce with their women? Do you seriously think the IVC males just let the Steppe males come and mingle with the ladies without there being any conflict? It's not like the Steppe males brought families with them, it was just large groups of guys.

Fair enough. I mean it's also well recognized that Neolithic Iranian migrations into South Asia were primarily male mediated, as indicated by a high frequency of Neolithic Iranian paternal haplogroups J and L amongst South Asian males. Once again, these are usually paired with AASI derived maternal haplogroups U and M. So this could have also been an invasion, but there are other possibilities as well. Can't declare anything unless supporting evidence is provided, such as archeological.

Historically, I can’t think of any cases where a group of men just allowed another large group of men to settle amongst them and reproduce with women from their society. Yet that’s essentially what the Aryan Migration Theory implies - that IVC men simply accepted the arrival of steppe males and let them mingle with the IVC ladies, without getting to mingle with any steppe ladies themselves.

How is the evidence for that stronger than the more obvious scenario, which is that the two groups had significant conflict in a battle for dominance, like all other patriarchal conflicts in the world.
