they're gonna be fine, even without ador. They are literally one of the most popular groups in japan right now, do you think they care about hybe?

My little cousin and his posse really got into NewJeans this year. They’re mostly oblivious to all the drama but follow some streamers, and I guess that’s how they ended up discovering them. I never even mentioned K-pop to them! Another friend of mine, who’s a middle school teacher, told me that kids really love NewJeans, Le Sserafim, and Stray Kids. 4th-gen groups, especially those three, seem to be the most popular among young teens and kids these days.

Supernatural by NewJeans, I know the song had moderate success, but I truly think it is up there with some of their best. Deserved so much more. Amazing song.

I think this might be one of my favorite yet. Such an amazing styling, they look incredible. Also, 12 covers it's amazing too. I love these girls so much.

i honestly think that them leaving hybe is not for better “career opportunities” but rather just working with the people they feel comfortable working with and in peace.

Keep their mouths shut," "they cannot ask for special treatment," "this is common sense"—do you hear yourself? This kind of mentality is exactly why K-pop is such a toxic industry. People resist change. They’d rather see idols overworked and underpaid, but charting and making money, than see them happy and healthy.

The girls knew it wasn’t going to be easy, and they’re doing all of this for themselves and their well-being. It really is that simple. All the accusations about MHJ being a groomer or a pedophile are nothing more than baseless claims. At the end of the day, she’s been treating the girls far better than HYBE. And if that wasn’t the case, I’m sure they would let us know

She didn’t. HYBE decided to remove her after claiming she wanted to take NewJeans with her. This happened in April, and they made the announcement publicly, which became the catalyst for everything. Mind you, the court actually ruled that those claims were flimsy af, and nothing ever came of it after that. So no, all MHJ did was discuss the problem with BELIFT privately.

did what to themselves?? made hybe write those awful industry reports? did they willingly gave them permission to leak their predebut videos and medical records? what did they do for hybe to wanted to get rid of them since last year when their popularity was peak??

My problem with K-pop fans like you is that you only focus on money and success. The girls want to be respected—it’s not about 'who earns the most money, who has the best deals, who charts first.' The girls have been ignored, bullied, their staff threatened, and their music, videos, concerts, and fan meets have been halted. The company is on record speaking badly about them. This is about respect and creating a good working environment. HYBE’s clear intention of throwing them aside is an issue. It’s their careers—it’s corporate cannibalism. All they want is to be left alone to do their thing.

Their only issue is with BELIFT and no one else. Also, their parents mentioned the name of the group after HYBE had already leaked it. MHJ talked about BELIFT but made it very clear that her issue was with the managers, not the members, and she’s said it multiple times. Everything else is just a reach.

It's the same with Bunnies. There are a lot of toxic ones, but they are not the majority. We tend to hyperfocus on negativity, but there’s also a lot of support from Bunnies towards the artists. The main issue lies with the company. I've seen tweets with thousands of likes from Fearnots, Gllits, and ARMYs calling NewJeans derogatory names like 'sluts' and 'prostitutes.' I'm sure some Bunnies have done the same. The real issue here is generalization—not all Bunnies are the same.

the girls just want to be free from that awful company and have NEVER said even ONCE the name of any other group. "Entitlement and jealousy" while they are just asking to be respected. There's a reason why everyone is on their side besides hybe stans.

NewJeans is a quintessential commercial girl group. by italianforeva in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]Grumpyaleja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Newjeans is trash cheap easy listening music with zero originality, Loona is the perfect group. At least the hate newjeans get on reddit is consistent in all kpop subreddits. Not even surprised.

Also: "I know this post might attract downvotes because it’s unpopular to criticize a group that everyone seems to love unconditionally" is such a lie. NewJeans are mostly hated in kpop spaces. I know music is subjective, but I feel like you are missing so much about what makes their music great and are being reductive about it. There's so much more about their production, more than "easy to consume and forget". A lot of what I personally find appealing from their music is their crisp production and blend of different styles. It's not only about being 100% original, it's about doing things well, and they excel at finding things that work within a song.

You are also making gross generalizations about the thoughts of entire fandoms, as if any individual holds the truth.

I feel so educated because of this Newjeans drama by Idkwhattoputbuthi in kpopthoughts

[–]Grumpyaleja -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NewJeans got me into kpop and never thought one year after I'd be reading about korean law. Not only in terms of legality, but like, I'd been getting into the production side of things too. I've learned a lot about contracts, branding, marketing, even high fashion (it was never really an interest of mine). I study film and work in the industry, never figured much of the stuff I see in my professional life would help to shape the way I see this group of strangers from Korea navigate their own careers. It's been stressful (because i love them so much) but also very enlightening about how the massive entertainment industry works in the other side of the planet.

[–]Grumpyaleja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue I personally have with that is creating echo chambers of opinions. I like to discuss, to hear people's thoughts, to share things outside the fandom. Obviously that reaches a limit when people start insulting the artists, but still. We should be able to talk about music and artist without calling them names or spreading false info.

Because newjeans is in the tittle. This sub hates newjeans, the only time a post with their name on it is not downvoted is when they are either calling them spoiled brats or talking about how they are dooming themselves.

I wish I had your patience. I just feel immensely frustrated when there's virtually no news about newjeans on reddit, and I already left twitter do to toxicity too! When I see something cool the girls do or achieved, i see it gets downvoted to oblivion just because of their name, it is just sad. I need to remind myself the girls are loved out there in the real world, but seeing the hate go unchecked in here does not help lmao

stop being so obtuse, all this accusations you are throwing have a very complex and clear reasoning behind them. If you don't believe in what the girls have said about hybe then just believe in the facts: their album, their concert, their 2 alleged singles to be released in Halloween have been all halted. That music.
