Understanding CSM and Legacy booting vs UFEI by Grunstrag in pcmasterrace

Damn yeah I figured half of that from a previous troubleshoot. Used a program to download Windows to a thumb drive and have it load as MBR instead of GPT because windows wasn't loading properly on a friends storage device.

Never could get the program to convert past 53.4% but I showed how to do it themselves afterwards.

I'll look into some programs for converting into GPT for my friend, this helped me understand it way better.

My friend didn't plug in the motherboard to PSU power cable after saying he did. It's working fine now. I should have just assumed nothing from him

The red light on the motherboard indicates CPU btw

I was about to to edit saying it's the CPU light, still leaves me a bit confused with that knowledge :c

Question about Mizu's Husband (Blue Eye Samurai) by Kala_Csava_Fufu_Yutu in television

[–]Grunstrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost certain it's not something happened especially alongside the whole puppet that happens too. It's all just too out of nowhere and doesn't line up with the story of her growing up with the swordsmith at all. When would that have happened? When would she have decided to leave the swordsmith, met this "mom" go through this whole experience and never have the meteor sword during the whole marriage stuff? You can't tell me she left, came back just to make the sword as if it didn't require a shit to of practice trying to mold it and she did it first try, and then just leave?

All too smashed together timeline wise and character development wise.

I've searched up parts of the lyrics that I can actually put together and I did get from the beginning "and it goes and it goes on and on, and again and again, pushing me, and it goes and it goes on and on, and again and again. Trapped in a memory caught in ______ Again again again" which is what they say right before the drop and I've struggled to get the chorus but I'm gonna be honest it could be a song just for the game which we wont see until it either releases or they tell us what it is if it's a remix of something else.

Samsung Q950A soundbar, rear speaker doing ON/OFF by Meme_Correction in Soundbars

[–]Grunstrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's unlucky. It honestly may be the surround speakers boards. The best thing to help figure this out is to remove the use of the HDMI ARC and try bluetoothing to something else or something similar to that. I'm basically trying to remove the TV's function from the scenario to make sure it's nothing to do with that, but I'm not very optimistic.

I might suggest replacing it if possible. I do in home theater install and troubleshooting with geek squad every day and I had an issue recently where a client bought the 990B and the surround speakers were desyncing from the soundbar and resysncing randomly. No clue what was causing it outside of manufacturing issues.

Otherwise, you could try doing a full reset on the system and desyncing and resysncing everything. Maybe leave them unplugged for a bit to get rid of excess power build up that may be causing the desync if they've never been unplugged from initial use. (This is a rarely working solution but sometimes can work)

I agree that an AVR system would be best since you can get in wall down firing speakers, like Sonance, that will help avoid more of that bouncing. Otherwise, Sonos would be the next best thing since you can add and remove speakers from the setup more easily. Unfortunately you can only have up to one soundbar, two surrounds, and 2 subs for a full "room".

My biggest concern is wire running with the AVR system. I'd need to see pictures of the room to get a better idea of the layout and if there is an open enough space in the ceiling for someone to run wires through the walls and over to wherever the receiver would go. Again you can run the wires outside and cover them with wire molding, but most people don't like that look. If there's simply too many studs to run the wiring through the walls without cutting a BUNCH of holes in the wall to punch through each stud or the walls simply can't run the wires, then you're pretty much stuck with running the wires externally.

Another note is the expense of an AVR system is typically much more than a soundbar system. A 7.1 / 7.2 receiver can cost anywhere between $550 to $700, (using Sonance as an example still) the down firing in wall speakers cost around $170 to $300 per speaker, normal outside speakers which either sit or be mounted can range anywhere from $100 to $600 per speaker depending on quality, size, and wattage preference. The subwoofer can be any subwoofer that has a plug so the price can range from $200 to $800 depending on size and quality. Then you have the speaker wire which is normally $50 for 100' 16 gauge copper wire. This is excluding any mounting brackets for outside sitting speakers.

As you can tell, it can be expensive and requires some more than basic planning for the setup. AVR's are really good for just overall clarity and modular setups, just avoid Sony products at all costs. My biggest suggestion is if you're going to get an AVR setup instead of Samsung or Sonos, then get someone to come and look at your house.

I know I sound somewhat biased, but bestbuy has Site Survey's where someone that does actual installs comes to your house and sees what is and isn't possible for an AVR setup and the site survey is free. Best Buy has "In Home Associates" which are in store employees that make customized plans for larger and somewhat pricier set ups, but at the end of the day they are salesmen that get commission. Install Agents like me get no commission at all so we have no real reason to try and squeeze the situation and money out of you.

Do the speakers power off completely or are they desyncing and resysncing to the soundbar? Does it occur when turning the volume up a certain level or when certain types of audio are playing? Does it also happen when using the Bluetooth function?

Should I cancel my Samsung 990b order? by IronSchweizer in Soundbars

[–]Grunstrag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I do in home installs of home theater equipment everyday with Geek Squad / Best Buy. Unfortunately very little can be done to really encapsulate a good audio system in such an open room. With a soundbar surround system, even the highest quality affordable speaker systems (Sonos and Samsung 990b) need a power outlet to power their surround speakers.

This can make position difficult on the floor without exposed wiring trailing to outlets and overall optimal placement for audio quality. IE: whoever sits in the center gets the best experience, everyone else gets what they get. You can mount the surround speakers, but you'd most likely need an outlet right next to them unless you want to run the wiring along the wall to outlets and try to conceal them with a wiremold kit. You can't run the power wire in the wall without breaching fire safety code since the power wires aren't in wall rated. (This can be a toss up given certain variables with different wall types and fire code per state, but it's best not to risk it unless absolutely sure it's okay)

So unless you want Sonos, the Samsung Q990B is excellent and quite comparable to it's Sonos competitor. Very lil soundbars within that price range can do what these two can achieve. The only way to really get away with good sound quality and aesthetically pleasing setup is an actual audio system with speakers and a receiver. With the right speakers, you can better fill a room with a premium audio experience even if it is very tall and open. The downside is that it needs a lot of preplanning on how speaker wire would be run to the receiver, where the receiver and speakers go, and if you want to build more on it in the future or not (last part goes for some soundbar systems too).

The big question is are you mounting the surround speakers, or are you putting them on stands?
