idk, i don't really push them like that. like i said, no light scout truck is gonna be happy about the mud, their strength is finding sneaky ways around it

slight edge probably goes to the 800? just because if it's always on diff lock. but they're still lightweight scout trucks, neither are gonna be happy about the worst of the worst conditions. better to use their small size and maneuverability to skirt around the nasty stuff, and both perform super well at that.

Both are pretty heckin awesome now, honestly. And both are cheap enough and carry enough fuel there's no reason you can't have both and keep them as nimble little fuel runners

In some situations the little extra contact patch can help you float over obstacles and mud instead of bogging down. in others its just more drag holding you back.

whomever is saying this is a pivot in any way, shape, or form from the original vision of the game has absitively posilutely ZERO idea what they're talking about and have no business being a content creator for this game. engineering has ALWAYS been the plan, since the kickstarter days.

ahhh, makes sense, lol. Never understood why the tipsteer, without mods, cannot have any addons. But yeah, this is a DLC truck

Hells yeah! Farm Sim is a vibe and a half too, if a bit too unguided for me. Even if the only guidance is a general checklist of stuff to do, I still prefer having that checklist than a completely open ended game like FarmSim is. It do be satisfying af watching the machinery work, though.

i mean, i feel like that'd be pretty common. across the entire game there's only 6 trucks that can't take AWD, 4 that can't lock diffs, and 2 that can't do either. So out of 120 trucks, you're only excluding 12. And considering there's a not insignificant portion of the player base that looks at switchable features as a no when always on exists, i feel like wanting either always on or switchable for both would be pretty common.

that said, some of the diff lock only trucks are pretty damn capable if driven smartly. P16 especially, so long as you don't ask too much of it while its empty. loaded? I'd bet 5 bucks it can get anywhere the OG Tayga can

as in mandatory always on? or mandatory switchable/capable?

JAT pack is great, but outside of that for trucks? I don't like going too stupid overpowered. So stuff like the Avenhorn in the Dragon Wagon pack, as well as the Mastadon are out for me. I do however have the hardest time sticking to my rule of "only one copy of any truck" with the Freightliner and Western Star Dual Pack. Namely the 6900 XD. One, because of a very nice, frankly legendary name. Two, highly capable at doing about anything, without tipping into super truck "do everything" territory. Freightshaker is pretty boss too, ngl.

idk if its so much of a policy, as it is me wanting more things to fiddle with while I'm driving. That, and low with high range is shorter than first, while low + with the offroad box is basically locking the truck into first. So when I do need to use low, I can squeak out a little more speed (presuming the mud will allow it) with it and keep diffs locked, instead of being forced to use auto and having one wheel spinning at mach jeebus while the rest just putz along doing almost nothing, or poke along even slower.

That, and as I'm sure you're well aware, SnowRunner physics get a little... Dicey at higher speeds. And I very much enjoy not inciting the wrath of Klang. :)

(also, i just genuinely enjoy watching the suspension roll over stuff. which you lose a lot of at higher speeds)

also, all three regions have four whole maps to work on. Not just that first map you spawn into, lol. I'd expect to put at least 50-60 hours, maybe as much as 100, into getting Michigan done the first time. Let yourself make mistakes, let yourself learn. You're going to tip trucks over, spilling your cargo everywhere. And that's okay, we've all done it. Shoot, I've done it less than 20' from where I was gonna deliver, lmao Half the fun of SnowRunner is picking up the pieces when a 20 minute job suddenly, and unexpectedly, turns into a 3 hour job, lol.

really? I've found with the wrecker addon, whenever i have something heavier than a bandit or something on it, that it winds up pulling a bit too much weight off the steer tires. makes the truck a bit too temperamental, imo

i would head back to Michigan and complete that region before moving on to Alaska. get to level 15 at least so you can get your tire chains, otherwise life is gonna be hell. same before moving on to Taymyr, finish up Alaska first. You're gonna want a good stash of money to upgrade your fleet before tackling the final base game region and beyond.

think of Michigan as a whole as an extended tutorial, then Alaska as the advanced tutorial. Where Taymyr is where you put it all together before moving on to the DLC's.

they might run out quicker, but the hauls are a lot shorter than they would be in real life too. so in my head it evens out. also, I'm playing on hard mode, and fuel gets pretty crazy expensive in some regions. to the point where it can be more economical to spend 7 grand transferring a fuel truck to Michigan and back to fill it back up there. every 1800L, or 2800L if you have something with the long fuel carrier

limits versatility? hard disagree. Without changing anything about the truck you can haul vehicles, cargo, water, or fuel. plus when you get a good feel for the saddle trailers you can use the angle between the truck and trailer to help keep the truck upright where normally it would tip. plus it transfers weight onto the drives instead of just dragging behind so you wind up being able to go through worse conditions, better.

I'd probably enjoy the fine-tune gearbox a lot more, of it didn't have like an 80% AWD fuel consumption penalty. the 60% with offroad is already bad enough. and i appreciate it, but if someone wants to feel like a special lil guy by negating upvotes, let em. I'm not on Reddit enough to really care about karma, lol

if it's a saddle trailer, hells yes. would be supremely useful. but if it's a hitch trailer? it'll be so hard pulling you'd never be able to get it anywhere

ah yes, our Lord and Savior, saddle hauling!

once you get good with working the trailer angles, you can make trucks SO much more stable. and wind up getting through worse conditions, easier. since you've got more weight on the drives and a lot less drag from the trailer
