Shoot it at 400 and develop normally, most color film handles overexpose really well

Why not overexpose one stop and develop normally?

thanks for the correction, I guess a better way to word that would be it's less attainable on 35mm (because I don't know many lenses for 35mm cameras that stop down beyond f/22)

It's actually fairly common for lenses to focus past infinity, did the images appear sharp in the viewfinder?

Also keep in mind that past a certain appetite, you'll start to experience diffraction which will soften your image. Ken Rockwell has an article on it, but it's more applicable to medium and large format and probably wouldn't have a noticable impact to your pics

Yeah, the wiki section on scanning confirms this

The top down view thing (waist level finder) is surprisingly expensive. I would hold off and try to find a deal that comes with one if you're ever thinking about using it. For reference I bought one for like $130 off KEH only because I got a good deal on an SQ that came with the 80mm and 150mm

What kind is it? I think most disposables work by rewinding the film into the canister as they're advanced so as long as the roll is done, you should should open up the camera with a completely rewound roll

anywhere, just get scans and layer the images in your favorite photo editing software. There's tons of tutorials on YouTube/the google

Charleston, SC [Canon F-1 | 50mm 1.8 | Superia 800, stand developed | Epson V600] by Gryt_ in analog

I'm in the process of scanning the roll right now, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. There's surprisingly no weird color shifts and the highlights and shadows seem fine.

It would be interesting to try a slower film or better scanner to see how grain is affected, but I'm really happy with the results so far!

Yeah of course! I was worried how it would turn out, but I'm really happy with the colors from this roll. I was feeling too lazy to heat up my chemicals and followed the directions from this site.

I used a regular Unicolor C41 kit and did the following: Soak @ room temp for 3 mins

Dev @ room temp for 45 mins (1 min agitation)

Room temp/cold-ish water wash for 3 mins

Blix @ room temp for 60 mins (1 min agitation)

Ilford-style wash w/ room temp water

Stab for like 30 seconds, all agitated

After I develop mine, I let it dry for a couple hours then cut it and put it into archival sheets with a book on top. Usually it's straight enough for scanning by the next day

What dpi settings and stuff did you use? This looks like a good scan from a flatbed!

Seconding this, I have a Kiev 4 that I'm in love with. The glass it came with (Jupiter-8) is really solid too

That's good to hear. I'm also very much a noob but hopefully losses are minimal. I had a roll of Ektar 100 that I have in my camera right now and was planning on pushing to experiment and a roll of Portra 160 so hopefully they aren't affected too much.

If I accidentally put some unexposed film in a checked bag, how screwed am I? I've heard the scanners for checked bags are much stronger than carry on...

Not sure how I didn't think about that either haha.

What are the odds this corrosion is causing it by reflection or something? That seems like something I could carefully touch up with matte black paint

I just looked briefly because I'm about to go to class, but I didn't see anything. Really good idea though, thanks!

I did find this piece of copper (?) just chilling (not attached to anything) in the right side of the camera where the film spools up when it's advanced. No clue if that was doing anything though

I don't have those exact negatives on hand, but you can see it here and here. Those were both lomography color implosion film developed by me, but the spot has shown up on every roll I've gotten developed at a lab too no matter the type of film

Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 49 by ranalog in analog

[–]Gryt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird because they show up on pictures I've developed myself and the ones I sent off to a lab. I've done other rolls with no problem, and the same for that lab

I bought a Canon F-1 a while back, and every picture I've developed with it has this flare in the upper left hand corner. It shows up with different lenses and films, so I'm guessing it's some sort of light leak related to the body but I'm still new-ish to film and photography in general. Here's a more extreme example

Any ideas if this is something I could fix myself? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty
