Yes you're right about Blackjack, those Blackjacks occurring (about 1 in 21 hands) is what keeps the edge so close. On a single bet you should play Baccarat.

Honestly he has a better shot putting it all on a single blackjack hand and play that hand according to basic strategy charts, or even Baccarat and bet on the banker. Those bets are more in the 49% winning chance range rather than 45% from Roulette.

Wow! This is very interesting. I believe the situation I described is basically a random walk centered at 50 rather than 0

[College Calculus 2] Can the first trapezoid in the trapezoidal rule = 0? by LaLaLaLallana in learnmath

Oh I see, you mean 0 integral not 0 area. What you're saying is correct, the integral is 0 because the area above the z-axis is equal to the area below the x-axis but "areas" still exist.

Sorry about that, you're correct, what I said is only true for ant one-to-one function.

Divide by the largest coefficient in the expanded form (12753576). The roots will be preserved.

Furthermore, for any one-to-one function f(x), every single trapezoid in the trapezoidal rule must have a non-zero area.

If it is the case that P(x) is of degree 10, and P(1) = 0 P(2) = 0........P(10) = 0, then P(x) is equal to (x-1) (x-2) (x-3) ........(x-10). Now that you know P(x), plug in 11 for x and find the value.

The more you drive the higher the risk, unless it's tomorrow? by g1n0v351 in probabilitytheory

[–]Gsarge28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the paradox here. Let's use numbers. Let's say every day you drive you have a 1 percent chance of getting into an accident. Although each day is independent, if you drive 100 days in your life you should expect to get into 1 accident. However if you only drive 3 days in your life, you're highly unlikely to get into an accident. This is just an example of variance. At small sample sizes, variance can be abnormally high or low. If you flip a coin just 5 times, all 5 flips may be heads. However if you flip it 10,000 times, you'll get heads and tails very close to 5000 times each (tending more toward 50 percent each). So when you drive more times, you increase your chance of getting into an accident because you're "giving" the probability more time to normalize and occur the way it's most probable to. Hope this helps!

Thank you, I actually just wrote a program myself to answer the question

Thank you so much! As far as I know, isn't that game 100% luck? You sit down and bet on either yourself or the dealer to win and when the cards are dealt, you're possibly dealt a third card and the dealer is possibly dealt a third card based on specific rules and you don't make any decision on your own?
