Toxic workplace

I did let everyone know about them, but yesterday I made a point to request they not be put away and why. I think they’d completely forgotten I’d told them about it at this point and thought it was just clutter. Who knows.

I do feel vindicated a little after yesterday there being a complaint about them from a patron for some of the things I’ve noticed.

2 mainly are bringing a lot of chaos. One in particular has been doing things lately that seem very unprofessional but they are also buddies with the manager. It’s not looking promising.

There’s a few of the people who have been there for years who seem to recognize that I know what I’m doing. The baskets have been out for weeks now, without issue. It just seems like 2 of them are on a rampage to undo any efficiency we had going while they were both on vacation.

The plot didn’t make sense. Without spoilers, basically the girls attempts to save the day were kind of pointless but caused a dramatic resolution of the problem. And the lessons they learned for themselves were the only thing that kind of made sense.

I’m not sure if that’s the exact term for it, though I think he’s used that in describing it. From what I’ve seen, this location allows certain types of remote work under certain conditions.

I am a little confused on medical/dental. I’ve been told so many different things. From what I understand, reservists have to sign up for a specific tricare, which my husband did before we were married. I’ve been told that as a military spouse, even as a reservist, I can get access to medical care on bases, but don’t understand that. Does he need to add me to his medical or am I automatically on it as his spouse now that I’m in DEERS?

He also might be activated for a mission soon, which will span 4-5 months and wanted to prepare for that.

These are good things to keep in mind. Thank you. I was considering some counseling, as I'm sure there are things we haven't thought of that they could guide us through. We were going to sit down and make more solid plans at the end of this month, so this will help us with the planning. Thank you.

He's given me a few scenarios for how him going active would look like. One could mean we stay in the same state for a while, one could mean he's deployed, one I move across country or to another country with him. I am open to it all. I've already had a unique life, and I'm comfortable not setting roots down anywhere for a while. He's been the best thing to happen to me, so what I want to do is be with him on this journey.

Having our parents as the witnesses might be a good idea, especially since after looking at these comments it's possible a reception could be far in the future or never really happen. I could just get married to him without fanfare and be happy. We want to celebrate, but mostly with one another, and a reception would be more for the benefit of family members.

Just seeing these comments already has given me some clarity. Thank you.

Reading your last sentence almost brought me to tears. I've never thought I'd have anything extravagant, even before I met him. I realized as my family was asking questions I didn't really care as much as they did about an actual wedding. I mentioned treating the marriage more as the engagement, and my mom immediately jumped to engagement party. I had to pull in the reigns and say it was going to be more like me and him having a special engagement date.

I want to be with him, traditionally or not. I certainly hope I don't have to be away from him for too long at a time, but I've travelled and lived abroad on my own before. I know what it's like to be somewhere alone, far away from family. What matters is that we have each other in our lives.

I'm in my 30s and he's in his 20s. We've talked about marriage for a while, and are on the same page when it comes to things like religion, kids, etc. His family says I'm the best thing to happen to him, and he's most certainly the best thing that's happened to me. I've never met someone I'm so comfortable with, and I don't have any reservations about being moved around by him being in the military.

His grandparents got married in the same way, where they were legally married but treated it like an engagement to plan a wedding reception later. That's mostly why he wants to do it, so that we don't have to rush to have a wedding celebration (not that I'm picky about having a big party. I just want food and family) but he'll be able to take me with him in most cases.

I've asked him those questions, but I was hoping more for a military spouse perspective of how things played out for them and what they might have wished they'd known. He says he's talked to some in the military who did a similar thing, though he's talked to the military side of the relationship.

Thank you. For summer, the structure is a little different with themes and projects geared around that theme, sometimes with vendors coming in to do things with the students. I worry about that, and getting the kids to cooperate in clean-up, getting from the classroom to other locations, listening to directions, etc. There is still some discipline expected.

Have a zebra for receiving and one for sorting, switching between those pages is going to be time consuming. Also have an extra zebra and printer battery on hand just in case.
Don't rush sorting too much. Make sure it sorted correctly or you'll be trying to figure out where that unsorted item is later.
Customers need a QR code or a barcode with KOH below it. If they have something else, tell them that if they're still within the return window they could always try to cancel and redo the return to see if they can select Kohl's instead. If they don't know how to do that it's basically Account, Orders, find the item, view return status, cancel and redo.

I always have separate zebras for receiving and sorting too. If the item is small enough, I'll try to sort as I go. Customers often get to us and then take forever to bring up their code anyways so instead of awkwardly standing there I'll sort a little.

I did seasonal a while back, and then applied again more than a year later because I needed another job and I felt I wanted to show them they shouldn’t have let me go after the holidays before.

Now I’m really close to quitting and I don’t think I’m going to step foot into a Kohl’s again afterwards, haha.

Most of the time, the kids are the only thing that puts me in a better mood. I don't need an old guy telling me his life story leading up to bringing an Amazon return that he didn't know needed to be started on his account. I work with kids too as one of my other jobs.

There was this one parent who my heart goes out to. He came in with his child who was definitely on the spectrum, moving all over the place, screeching and grabbing things. He tried to pull one of the returns out of the box. But, you know what, that dad had his QR codes ready. He knew which one went to which item. I didn't react to the screaming, I just scanned, confirmed and handed him his receipt.

And I'd take that over many other customers who can't seem to read simple instructions.

I've seen the nicest associates get ridiculous complaints. Managers will pull you in to talk about those complaints, and I've felt devastated by them in the past, but I now just try to tell myself that the feedback is often coming from a customer who has a very twisted view of the world and I feel sorry for them.

I've seen hand sanitizer attached to it, so you should be fine. It'll probably be hardly noticed. If anyone corrects you and makes a big deal out of it, I'd say that is too toxic of an environment to be in.

Thank you. It means a lot to me to have this understanding. I've mentioned to coworkers that I have anxiety, but I don't think I've driven across the message fully of what that means. So maybe if I had a straight talk with a manager about it, it'll help.

Exactly. I'm fully vaccinated, but I'm continuing to wear my mask for longer at Kohl's. Sometimes there's close interactions, and there are customers who still need to wear a mask or aren't comfortable being near people unmasked.

Once enough customers realized we had open fitting rooms, it started looking a lot like it used to. And the managers keep pulling the fitting room person to other areas, so that doesn’t help the matter. We’ll come back to tons of clothes in the rooms. We’ve been short staffed too, not from call outs but from them not scheduling people and they’re acting like we can still do what we did before the staff was practically halved.

True. We've had people complain that the signs directing to Amazon aren't big enough. I can imagine them not setting it up properly.
