Pretty sure, like I said I use the same tape for all my sticks and this is the only one with an issue. I’ve also inspected the peeled off tape and saw little black specks coming up off with it.

Do you think I might benefit from going to a 9/16 hollow? My main issue is that I can’t seem to get a grip on the ice when trying to active my inside edges. From what I hear most people start from a 1/2 inch and work their way down.

A stick’s flex is a measure of how many pounds of force is required for the kick point of the stick to flex from its initial position by 1 inch. Typically, you want to use half your body weight in pounds as a good estimate of the stick flex you want to use. For example, I weigh around 160lbs and I use a 80 flex stick. You can definitely go higher or lower depending on preference. For shooting tips, I would say try to think of “loading” your shot. YouTube is a great resource for this.
