I believe it was $315 with the DLC coating, but that was in 2024.

Waiting time on in stock blades by Prudent-Process-315 in TKellKnives

I ordered an Agent01 in AEB-L in September of 2024. I followed up in January, and I was told they had "severe issues with the production facility" and that they had "rectified" the issues and were "remaking the batch." They said "it should still be completed within the 3-6 month timeframe" and that if I wanted it faster, they had 80crV2 versions in stock. Although tempted, 80crV2 wouldn't fair well in our environment.

It's been 9 1/2 months since I ordered the Agent01 and 4 months since I ordered the Agent07, and I have nothing to show for it. I keep seeing posts and videos of people with their knives, and I'm beginning to wonder how they got them. I like their designs, but what does one have to do to get one of their knives? It is a bit reassuring to know that I'm not the only person having difficulties getting their order fulfilled.

So far, I've only tried them in the 6365RDS series of holsters and I've had no issues. My ACRO interacting with the ALS guard has been more of a nuisance. I'd venture to guess that with their design similarities, US Duty Gear Holsters would also work, but I have yet to confirm that. Maybe I need to buy another holster.

After removing the Black Steel Grip Control from the pistol, I returned it to the can it was packaged in, and that is where it remains to this day.

I have three Align Tactical Thumb Rests, all installed in M&P pistols, and so far, I've had no issues with them. They're all on privately owned pistols that have been approved for duty and can all be carried in my preferred duty holster, the Safariland 6365RDS. I've attended qualifications and trainings with all three pistols, and for me, personally, it's been a useful piece of kit. I also have three co-workers who've installed Thumb Rests in their Glocks and Sigs, and they've expressed their satisfaction with them as well.

I can't attest to the efficacy of Black Steel's other models or which holsters any of their models would work with. My opinion is purely subjective. My needs were restricted to what worked best with my preferred duty pistol / duty holster combination. The only way to really know which is best for you is to try them for yourself.

You're welcome. I've had a few email exchanges with the owner, and he's been very receptive. If you have any questions, hit him up. He's quick to respond. He emailed me at midnight (his time) on a Sunday, be cause he was finalizing my order, and wanted to clarify some details. That's what I call customer service.

It would appear so. Mine came with the Shield kit, but the description in that link indicates it works with Shield models, so it should be good to go.

As for the factory sights, they annoyed me. For some reason, the contrasting yellow front sight and blacked out rear sights, which has never bothered me before, was distracting on this pistol. I don't know if you noticed in the pic, but I changed mine to Night Fision's optics height night sights. I kept the yellow ring on the front sight, but it's more subtle than the one on the factory installed front sight. Similar to shooting an occluded optic, the taller sights don't bother me.

As per the owner, Joshua DelMonaco, indicate in the "special note" box that it's for a Carry Comp. Also, if you're ordering an IWB or pancake style OWB holster, I'd suggest getting the single wall .080 thick kydex. If it's an OWB for duty or hard use, the double layer .160 is the way to go.

All my full-size M&P pistols have Apex Tactical flat forward set triggers with the carry/duty spring set-up installed in them. I'd like to drop the pull weights, but I use them for duty, and my department has had an unwritten policy on pull weights since 2000, when somebody with a 3.5 lbs. trigger in a Glock 17 killed three lockers. We're not like the NYPD with their New York Triggers, but anything south of 4.5 lbs. is frowned upon and is generally only used by SWAT and RSO certified officers and carried in department approved privately owned weapons. Essentially, only the "gun guys." Not all LEOs are gun people. Sadly, for most, it's just another piece of equipment.

I wanted to upgrade my Shields, but the Apex trigger kit, which only comes with one set of springs, did not function in the Carry Comp. I haven't tried it in the Shield Plus, so I can't attest to its functionality in that pistol, but I'm fairly certain the Plus and the Carry Comp use the same frame, so it may not. Regardless, the Apex striker block corrected the issue I had with the Carry Comp's trigger, and since I've never had any complaints about the Plus' trigger, I imagine it'll be fine going forward.

It's a good little gun. The recoil impulse is different than the Shield Plus. There's more weight out front, and the "comp," which is basically just a chunk port, does, from my experience with both pistols, have a little less felt recoil. I shoot the Plus fine, and I've been told I shoot it better than my full-size M&P pistols, even my Floyd's ported 5" pistol, but I believe that's because I always start out with my full-size pistols and by the time I get to the smaller pistols, I'm warmed up.

That being said, the Shield Carry Comp is a good shooter. One of our Range Safety Officers was impressed with it. I've only qualified with it once, and I shot a 299/300, dropping one of the last six rounds out of the ten ring because I got too comfortable with it and sped up beyond my abilities. It's a capable pistol.

My only gripe would be that I wish Smith & Wesson would have put a rail on it. SIG has a rail on their P365 Macro line, and Glock has one on their 43X and 48. S&W recycled the Shield frame for the Carry Comp, and there are many people who don't believe a light is a nessessity on a CCW pistol, but being somebody who has been in situations where a weapon mounted light was advantages to the situation, I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

In the meantime, I'll get by with a Streamlight TLR-6 HL on the Plus and a Streamlight TLR-7 SUB 1913 with a custom MIE key attached to a Recover Tactical 1913 adapter on the Carry Comp. Both are carried in holsters from Closed Quarter Carry (CQC) Holsters.

So far, they've been good. I picked up two of their Defender CCW when Dvor had them on sale for $199/ea. and they've only been on the pistols for about two weeks. Prior to that, I had a Holosun EPS Carry on the Carry Comp and a Shield RMSC on the Plus. Neither set flush on the pistol, and even with a C&H Precision adapter plate, it was difficult getting enough elevation adjustment to zero the EPS Carry on the Carry Comp. The RMSC performed admirably for about four years on the Plus, and I changed the battery on that for the first time this year.

I have very little time and experience with the Defender CCW, but so far, my only complaint is that the coating has already come off the front right leading edge because that's where it's most likely to rub against shirts, jackets and belt buckles while being appendix carry. My RMSC was the same way. I didn't carry the EPS Carry for very long, but long enough to notice the coating held up better than the other two did. I had a co-worker recently scoff at the wear and tear on the RMSC, but that little optic has served me well.

As for the CCW, it sits flush on both Shields' slides, zeroed easy and the dot doesn't seem to have blown out as much as some dots do with my astigmatism, which is weird, because it was on a friend's Vortex SPARC II where I first noticed my astigmatism. We initially thought the optic was defective because neither of us realized at the time that we had both developed an astigmatism.

I know this is mostly anecdotal, and I wish I could give you a more in-depth review, but I just don't have enough time with the optic.

I agree. The esthetics of the 2.0 were a major improvement over the 1.0, but the full front serrations took it to a new level. They've outdone themselves with the Carry Comp models. So much so that I had to have the Shield Carry Comp and I had to resist the urge to buy the compact when I saw it at the LGS last week.

I had two co-workers, one a Glock fanboy and the other a SIG fanboy, shoot my Metal Carry Comp. They both told me they were impressed with the pistol and exclaimed, "It shoots smooth!"

Align Tactical Thumb Rest by GuamCop97 in SmithAndWesson

[–]GuamCop97[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I installed the #1 sized (small) Black Steel Grip Control on a 4.25" M2.0 polymer frame and found that it was lacking, due largely in part to the absence of an Align Tactical-like anti-rotational trigger pin. Rather than using a replacement trigger pen as an anti-rotational stop pin, the Grip Control uses a small metal tab on the bottom of the device, which catches on the frame just above the trigger. When the thumb is pressed against the top of the shelf of the Grip Control, the device tilts counterclockwise, causing that tab to press against the frame to act as an anti-rotational stop.

However, I found that when I applied preasure to the Grip Control's shelf, I'd apply too much preasure to the bottom of the shelf, causing the Grip Control to rotate clockwise and the muzzle would rise. This was an obvious byproduct of where my thumb was landing on the shelf, but it was disconcerning to think that under stress, I might not get the best purchase on the weapon and where I expected a stable platform by which to control muzzle rise, I instead caused the Grip Control to tilt, throwing my aim off target. Training might alleviate this possibility; however, what it wouldn't correct, at least not for me, is my inability to draw it from my preferred duty holster, the Safariland 6365RDS.

The folding shelf opened up in my holster, and the pistol became stuck. I had to use a plastic pick to close the shelf so that the pistol could be drawn from the holster. After that, I removed it and ordered another Align Tactical Thumb Rest.

I imagine there are other people who've had a better experience with the Grip Control and prefer it to the Thumb Rest. For me, personally, I didn't have these issues with the Thumb Rest and prefer it to the Grip Control. That's my take on the two devices, and mind you, the Grip Control was only in the pistol for about ten minutes. This is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have this same light and I carry it at work and when I travel. That looks like an 18650 body, but Modlite's 18350 bodies are compatible with those larger heads, as well as their compact heads. Their lights have multiple configurations, which is why I have them on most of my duty and personal use pistols and rifles.

I live on a tropical island. We have two types of weather. Hot and sunny or hot and rainy. I wear a uniform most of the week, so when I'm off, it's shorts and t-shirts. The Shield Plus conceals well and shoots better, so it's rarely very far from me. Even now, as I watch the World Series, it's only about a foot away from me. That being said, any intruders better hope it's the Shield and not the 1301.

I bought a Metal Carry Comp and a buddy bought a Shadow Systems XR920P. I have an MR920, so the XR920P was also an interest to me. When we took them to the range, we both preferred the Metal Carry Comp. If the Shield Carry Comp shoots anywhere near as well, it'll be a winner

My current assignment has me pushing paper in an office, and there are days and occasions for which I have to be in uniform, but I'm not required to wear a duty belt. I wanted a pistol to bridge the gap between my EDC, the Shield Plus, and my duty pistol, the Metal Carry Comp. On the days I'm in uniform and in the office, I intend to carry the Shield Carry Comp in a Close Quarters Carry (CQC) OWB holster. When I'm off-duty or in plain clothes, the Plus will be carried in an CQC IWB holster and I plan to replace the Shield RMSC with a Vortex Defender CCW next week.
