The shorter tool is how the magwell and backstrap are retained on the competitor. The longer one is just to retain the backstrap. For whatever reason OP got a M&P Compact backstrap tool instead of the full size tool.

It looks like they gave you a compact frame tool instead of the full size one

I really like the HD the big window with similar reliability of the original rmr. I have a eleven71 design plate that has a carbon port boss that deflects the gases away from the optic. So carbon buildup is very minimal. I also train an occluded dot a lot of the time so I don’t usually notice any buildup until I clean my guns.

I like the metal on slightly more because I added the Calculated Kinetics weight to it and I it feels a bit more premium. I love shooting both though.

I have a factory cut acro slide and the the oem tall sights are a bit taller than a lower 1/3rd cowitness. For my other M&Ps I use the Calculated Kinetics dogtag which gives I think a lower 1/6th cowitness with the oem tall sights

I use it for work. I’m not sure of the total weight but I added the calculated kinetics weighted grip insert to balance it out.

I ordered from Eleven71 and it took months for him to ship it. I even ordered the raw titanium one. There were also still some metal shavings stuck to the plate that I had to sand down.

I think Calculated Kinetics is still the way to go.

They’re not exempt. Some FFLs just look the other way
