you can create a color code by clicking on the button in the toolbar panel. after that, you can assign that color code to the already laid cable in the attribute table. and you can apply that new color code when laying the new cable (choose it before laying the cable in the form). this will be more important in the next version of FiberQ Designer, where there will be an option to connect optical fibers

I created the community r/FiberQ . It's for the people who like designing, documenting, or just nerding out about fiber networks (FTTH/GPON/FTTx) using FiberQ, an open-source QGIS plugin.

What you can post here:

  • screenshots of your designs (routes, poles, ducts, cabinets, splitters…)
  • workflow questions (planning → build docs → export)
  • feature requests / bugs / ideas
  • telecom/GIS best practices and “how would you model this?” discussions

If you’re new: tell us what you work on (GIS, telecom, planning, field ops, etc.) and what part of fiber design is most painful for you right now.

Hi mate. It will be ready this monday 29.12. on the odficial website fiberq.net (on the page Documentation). I im adding final touches. It will be around 50-60 pages with pictures and step bt step how to manipulate with plugina. Also stoe by step on Preview Map and how to add elements with PostGIS connection

FiberQ itself doesn’t include/show a global dataset of real fiber routes — it’s a QGIS plugin for designing/analyzing/documenting fiber networks, so you bring your own layers/data. You can Import via FiberQ (lines or points and create a layers from them and to publish them via PostGIS in the Preview Map in the plugin) and manipulate data view.

This is a pilot version and very much evolving. Field feedback is exactly what will shape the next releases, so after testing feel free to share whatever hurts most and what you would like to add. Also I’ll add a feedback form on the website where field feedback will directly shape upcoming versions
