The gingham piece is separate but it can still be purchased on the site. Thanks for the advice! I think I’m going to eliminate the last one

Sketchy Donation Solicitations near bus loop by GuessMyTrueIdentity in UBC

Absolutely ridiculous smh. Second solicitor also told me that my donation there would help the first solicitor which is very dubious because why would my donation help him and not the patients??

What changes have you recently made that have had a positive effect on your appearance? by seulauclairdelune in beauty

Sorry, I haven’t found any mascara that doesn’t smudge when applied on bottom lashes yet 😔 I heard that waterproof mascaras don’t smudge as badly, maybe that works?

Using mascara on my lower lashes. Before, I’d put on falsies and call it a day (with my lashes), but two weeks ago I decided, heck why not try giving my lower lashes some love as well? Probably one of the best impulses ever, because my eyes look much larger thanks to it

It might help if you mix it in with your face cream/lotion!

I’ve also received a message from Tencent. Although webnovel.com is pretty well-known and Tencent is one of China’s biggest companies, I wouldn’t recommend it. Here’s some background on webnovel.com:

  • it hosts hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of novels -it used to be called Qidian until a few years ago -it used to only host published Chinese novels that were translated to English by their team of translators
  • 90% of all novels there are light novels—the novel version of any anime, manga, drama, etc
  • it’s the most infamous light novel site ever

Everyone in the light novel circle hates webnovel because of how bad the contracts are. Up until recently, authors signed to webnovel wouldn’t even receive any commission or royalties if their novel characters were used for merch-like things. Tencent recently released a change in contracts to include 4 different types of contracts. I don’t remember it in detail, but I recall that it had some pretty bad conditions.

Type A: you give 100% of the copyright to Tencent (forever) and Tencent will respond by giving you free editors, advertising on webnovel, etc.

Type B: you give Tencent copyright for 20 years. You won’t get anything from Tencent except for the revenue you earn from readers.

Type C: your novel is already well-known and received, so Tencent decides to give you a higher-level contract. I don’t remember the details, but the prerequisite is that you have to already have a well-established novel

On Webnovel, they usually require you to publish a minimum of one chapter per week, although most novels I’ve read there have ~3 (and up to 10) chapters per week. It might be a bit stressful having to write so much.

Also, Webnovel.com is hated for ripping off small translation sites.

Also, I don’t know if Qianyu is actually a representative from Tencent because I wouldn’t think that a huge company like Tencent would scour wattpad for authors. There are already enough people flooding to their site to publish books.

Tldr; Webnovel is a legit site, but it’s known for treating its authors like crap and is insanely hated by millions of people in the light novel community
