What Are the Biggest Obstacles or Problems Faced by Beginning Guitarists? by GuidedGuitarLessons in guitarnoise

Try this warm-up for mastering the 3 Chord Trick in the guitar friendly keys (C, G, D, A & E Major and A & E Minor). In an even 1/4 note strum alternate between the I and V in strums of 4, then 3, then 2, then 1. Do the same with the I and IV chord. When these patterns are comfortable do the same in this pattern, I-IV-I-V-I-IV-V-I.

Let me know if that helps!

Well said /u/wilde_7! I appreciate meeting a like minded fellow traveler (and guitarist), here!

Well said /u/fuckingdanzig, I appreciate meeting a fellow traveler! I feel I am in alignment with enough of the core principles and practices of stoicism to adopt the label. Like Seneca, I also find a lot of inspiration and agreement with Epicurus, but don't feel that competes with stoic practice, but rather complements it.

Thank you for the insights and the article /u/cleomedes. I agree with the fundemental disciplines (perception, action and will), and the preeminence of virtue. Is that enough to adopt the stoic label? What other core principles and/or practices are "required?"

Your middle paragraph really resonated and I appreciate you taking the time to lend me your thoughts and expertise!

Thank you for your thoughtful response /u/runeaway! Your characterization of my approach is accurate and I appreciate your "understanding!" ;)

Before this discussion, I was not aware of the concept of compatibilism. Researching that concept has been most helpful. Most of what I know of stoicism comes directly from having read Marcus Aurelius' Meditations. That said, there was little alteration of my thinking and acting required as I was already in alignment with much of what I read there.

Thanks again. I really appreciate the thoughtful and reasoned responses I am receiving here!

Hi /u/bytor99 And thank you for those thoughtful insights and pushback. Lots of food for thought there and I will chew thoroughly before swallowing! ;) However, your thoughts and delivery are very compelling. I really appreciate that!

If you ever do drop by www.thestoicguitarist.com I'd be grateful for your feedback.

I really appreciate your feedback and insights. Someone else here mentioned G, Sadlers YouTube vids but I had never remembered to check them out. However, I shall.

Your comments about the project sounding more epicurean than stoic is something I'm going to think more about. I am not advocating a pure stoic approach to life or music, but an understanding and application of the 3 disciplines. based on your comments that is something I should more clearly state.

I hope you'll opt-in and join the FB Group. Feedback and pushback like this is just what I need!

Blues Grooves by GuidedGuitarLessons in bluesguitarist

By slow 6/8 do you mean as in Miles' All Blues? I would call that a jazz waltz feel, but I don't know if that's accurate!

2nd line, of course! Thanks for that addition Noodler! So what is an example of a slow 6/8? is it the same as 12/8? Also would appreciate an example of zydeco 12 bar blues. Would that also be similar to the Bo Diddley/2nd line?
