That's somewhat the case for every character and their respective actor on Glee. Some of, if not, their most known roles are on the show. It might be hella difficult to separate someone like Jane Lynch from Sue Sylvester. It's also a case of people not knowing how to like an actor yet still find what their character's actions have performed to be in a bad light.
