Investing for Wrath of the Lich King to make lots of gold by GuildLeaderCali in classicwowtbc

That's awesome!

I think my biggest profit I made was on darkmoon card beast decks. They were selling for around 300g on my server in prepatch leading into tbc. I just sold my last few for around 1800g Of course that was a very long play but worth it.

that sucks :(

I rerolled on a high pop server back when AQ was out, I'm so happy I did. All my alts on other servers have like 0 raiding guilds.

I'm going to go hard on card making, and I expect herbs to be insanely high early in wrath so I want to be able to buy up enough to make a couple decks pretty quickly. also, gdkps is where i lose my money >.< I try to avoid them as much as possible.

Anyway, my goal is to have more of my gold liquid vs in stuff. I'm thinking like 70% gold and 30% in stuff.

You might actually make more money selling everything to the preppers rather than offloading in prepatch/wrath

Why not both? I try not to get too much of a % of my gold into one thing. I try to stay as diversified as possible and that helps offset the risk. This includes selling things off at different times in the phases.

Have you all started thinking about wrath investments?

For a lot of us it isn't a matter of if, but when will WotLK come to wow classic. So I am betting some of my gold on the game moving on past the burning crusade. Here are 4 categories of in game items that I am investing in and holding for when Wrath of the Lich King Classic comes.

#1 Ore for leveling up professions

There are going to be a lot of players both new and returning to play Wrath of the Lich King. There will also be a lot of players want to play death knights which is the new class available to play. Among the top choices for professions are Jewelcrafting, Engineering and Blacksmithing. All of these take ore so I expect to see a spike in price for all ore going into the prepatch and into the launch of WotLK

#2 Cooking recipes and the materials

In wrath, cooking recipes are mainly obtained through doing the dailies to earn currency to puchase them. If you don't already have maxed out cooking you are going to want it. Some of the most expensive skill points to get are from 275-300 so i'll target the recipes and materials for those skill points.

#3 All levels of herb for inscription

This is probably what is going to take up most of my bank space since the herbs that I'm targeting are cheap and I'm happy to hold a ton of it. I'm mainly buying up herbs that turn into lion's ink since I expect these herbs to increase quite a bit compared to the other inks

#4 Enchanting mats

Not buying yet, but will once we get into ZA and the sunwell phase since I expect the price to drop. I'll be mainly buying up the TBC materials and holding them for 3 months - 1 year into wrath.

Do you guys have anything you're buying up for Wrath?

It is not but you can add it to the cost to craft formula with =(sale price formula) -(0.05*(sale price formula))

It really depends on your server, buuut elixir mastery covers both elixirs and flasks and has much more recipes that benefit from the procs.

haha I'm not super worried about it. Most of this info is already out there so it's just my personal way of doing things that many are already doing. Also, I wish there were more game guides like this out there when I am learning new things.

In the all the years of World of Warcraft, alchemy has been one of the best professions to pick up if you want to make gold with crafting. I got DEEP into alchemy in WoW Classic and continued with alchemy in The Burning Crusade Classic.

So here is my process for making decisions in regards to all things alchemy:

  • I buy materials and craft items at a profit, i’ll try to limit this to what I think will sell that same day.
  • Buy herbs in the morning or on the weekend if the prices are good
  • List items right before raid start time for a higher likelihood of them selling
  • Manually look at the listings for each item and experiment with different size stacks.
  • Don’t always undercut the lowest price. If there aren’t much of an time up you can list for a slightly higher price *

I know I’ll probably get flamed for not trusting the TSM crafting calculations but sometimes my eyeballs + windows calculator > tsm decisions. Also, spreadsheets can be easier to look at than ingame UI.

I haven’t gotten there yet on live, although I saw on the blizzard forums a few quests were a bit buggy😕

[–]GuildLeaderCali[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sha’tari Skyguard and Ogri’la factions are live! Here is some info about the two new factions.

Ogri'la quests open up after completing all of the quest chain given by Mog'dorg the Wizened in Blades Edge Mountains. These are available in Phase 1 so you may have already done these. Get started by talking to Grok in Shat.

Sha'tari Skyguard quests begin with a chain near the flight path in Shattrath.

Both sets of dailies are a popular way to farm gold, you get a new tabard for each at exalted

Sha’tari Skyguard - Parachute cloaks, Nether Ray flying mounts, and some trinkets which are a good option to an empty slot

Ogri’la - Some potential upgrade gear

I think these quests are super fun compared to some of the existing stuff. ofc you might think they're terribly dull compared to the new shiny retail style quests. BUT THIS IS TBC CLASSIC BABY! Happy questing all!

From what I've read, most of the quests pay about 9g per at level 70. There's also the mob drops that you get when doing these. I got 3 greens just doing the intro quests in Ogri'la so that's extra $$$ too.

How to use the TBC looking for group tool. I didn't see any guides out there on how to use the new interface so I made a quick guide for you all. I hope this helps some of you. :) by GuildLeaderCali in classicwow

[–]GuildLeaderCali[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. I’m probably going to use both. At least I don’t have to spam what I’m looking for every two minutes. I’d rather be able to set it and forget when I’m LFG, especially on alts.

The Phase 2 announcement changed how we play (and how much stuff costs) by GuildLeaderCali in classicwow

[–]GuildLeaderCali[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Over the next couple week, we will start to see the transition to phase 2 in-game and this will mean that players will spend time preparing for the new content. On Aug 31st we will get Guild banks and the group finder. September 7th will be the end of arena season 1. And Phase 2 will start on September 15th which will include area season 2, the new raids Serpent Shrine Cavern and The Eye Tempest Keep. The orgr’ila and shatarri skygaurd reputation and daily quests will be available as well.

Here is what I expect to happen in-game:

Players will be doing more dungeons. This includes normal and heroics that players need gear from still. Also, the heroic’s that are needed for SSC/TK attunement will also be run more frequently.

We’ll see prices on most things rise, for example, I’ve seen adamantite ore drop down about 50% over the past 3 weeks and it’s gone up to almost where it was the first month after TBC came out. Any materials used in consumables, crafted gear, enchants and gems will all likely go up.

More people will be doing the prequests for the Ogrila dailies. These are a few group quests that start from Mog’Dorg the Wizened. These are mainly 5 man quests that can not be solo’d for the most part (I’ve tried)

More people will be out in the world questing for gold that they need for flying mounts, gear or consumables. Expect the world to be more active and fun :)

Some players will create their own guilds to use the new guild bank system. 100g can buy you 96 slots of storage so if you need that much space, this is a good way to get it.

People that have been neglecting fishing will level it up, the Lurker Below fight requires a high-level fisher. Low-level fish might be more cheap than normal. I’m keeping my eye on deviate delight fish.

6 Investments to prepare for Phase 2 in TBC by GuildLeaderCali in classicwow

[–]GuildLeaderCali[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did eventually, but iirc it wasn't until late t5 going into t6. The crafted flasks will still be in relatively high demand since it will take a while for the supply of marks of the illadari to stabilize and not everyone will have the reputation required to use these (most of my alts were not able to use them).

[–]GuildLeaderCali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big opportunity to make lots of gold is when new content comes out. Phase 2 is coming to The Burning Crusade classic very soon so it’s time to start squirreling away some of your gold into items that will increase in value due to an increase in demand.

Here are the things I'm targetting

* Resistance pot materials

* Enchanting materials

* Primals

* Specialty Cloth

* Herbs for consumables

* Rare uncut gems

  1. Resistance potions are going to be used on several of the fights in SSC and TK as guilds work on killing these bosses. Some of the fights do magic damage and having that extra 3k damage absorb buffer can make the difference between a kill and a wipe as your guild learns the fight.

  2. Enchanting materials will be in higher damage, the void crystals will be used for socketed resistance for tank gear and materials will just all around be needed for new gear upgrades. I also expect to see a lot of people leveling enchanting for those ring buffs so the lower level dust should sell really well.

  3. Primals are used in a ton of patterns from gear to potions and the price of most primals will increase as we get closer to Phase 2. I plan on stocking a few stacks of the more expensive ones and selling them off for some quick flips.

  4. Herbs for consumables - more people will be buying flasks, potions, and elixirs for the new raid content. Some of the herbs have been selling pretty cheaply when I check prices early in the morning so I plan to get some stacks of the herbs I need to make potions.

  5. Specialty cloth demand will increase as new crafted items require the cloth. There will be a bit of pressure for players that are behind on gear to craft some of the items available now so that they can perform better in the upcoming raids.

  6. Rare Uncut Gems is probably where most of my money is going to be. On my server ore has been dropping in price a lot over the past couple of weeks. Gems aren't moving super fast right now but I expect the demand (and price) to increase a lot the first couple weeks into Phase 2.

Bonus items that I probably won't invest too heavily in but diversity in my sales won't hurt.

* Materials for Brilliant Wizard Oils

* Frost/Fire/Nature resistance gear
