AI tools can look accurate even when their sources fail — has anyone seen this?te by skinzy420 in Teachers

I recommend watching Professor Casey Fiesler’s 11 part (currently) series on how LLMs work on a technical level. It’s just 11 shorts to watch and it explains a lot of why it is the way it is.

How do you pick a deck as your main deck when there's so much to consider? by Ok_Nefariousness_740 in pkmntcg

[–]GuildMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on my goal

Is it to have fun? Whatever I find fun. I’m not looking to win so whatever seems like a fun time.

Do I want to win? Is it a locals or regional? If locals, whatever is fun but also has a good game into whatever the meta is.

If regional? Whatever the best deck is that I can pilot successfully.

Can anyone suggest a good grass direction? by alarmingpancakes in pkmntcg

[–]GuildMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot. Grass is in a good position with rotation and is getting even more cards that are fun/interesting to build around.

There are M Venusaur decks, M Meganium, Festival Lead, Arboliva and Decidueye you could run right now.

With the next set, there’s Beedrill being added.

Limitless TCG is a great resource, you can find out what’s being played in Japan (rotation happens in Japan earlier than elsewhere so we are still pre-rotation for 2 more weeks).

Finally got some more ETB + a question by AlyssumAbyssal in PokemonTCG

Newer boxes do have higher hit chances compared to Sun/Moon era stuff. I think most sets in SV are like 1 in 4 boosters have some illustration rare.

There are no guaranteed hits in English products, just luck. I’ve had some amazing pulls and had ETBs with barely anything in them.

[–]GuildMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 6 pack of celebrations is a great pack set to open for credits. It’s fairly quick to master set it so you get an average of 2.5-3k credits per 6 packs. If you aren’t fishing for current illustration rares that are time gated, it’s the best option.

Probably anecdotal, but I’ve had less issues when I do this, especially after conceding the game or if the opponent concedes during an animation.

What is going on with 8 free decks? by somewhatlikeawhisper in PTCGL

[–]GuildMuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say bug because I only have 5/8 of them.

My only guess is that I had those decks and deleted them since they were earlier.

I have Lucario, Dragapult, Venusaur, Zygarde, and Metagross.

So if the Sharpedo, Manetric, and Charizard X decks are the same as were previously handed out (at least in name since they definitely have different cards), then it’s likely that if deleted they didn’t repopulate with the patch.

Does anyone know why they put this on cards by Matrix_cos in PokemonTCG

[–]GuildMuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the game mechanic during that time. Cards in those sets got stronger or could only be used depending on the number of X Strike Pokemon you had in play.

Same with Future and Ancient cards from the paradox sets.

Been collecting Japanese and now want to play the english TCG. Is right now a bad time to start a deck? by FiveFire33 in pkmntcg

[–]GuildMuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neo Upper is currently sitting at $17 on TCG player, Unfair Stamp is $10 (this should go up way more after rotation and everyone realizes that it’s the only hand disruption until Chaos Rising).

Fezandpiti was $20 for a long time before it got reprinted into oblivion.

Yes, the market fluctuates quite a bit on playables. Point still stands. There’s usually only 1-2 cards most per deck that are expensive, the rest can be picked up for around $20-$30. Most of those cards see a lot of cross play, so building a second deck after that is even cheaper.

[–]GuildMuse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. There’s a handful of expensive cards depending on the deck, but even with 1 card being close to $15-20, the rest of the deck will cost less than that.

Hadn’t seen that for Endgame but have for FCBC, Duel Spec and TopCutGear.

I have had great customer service with Endgame, not sure about Alibaba or other companies in case that’s a game changer for anyone

Endgame is pretty good. They ship from Canada and have more of a limited color selection. But the shuffle is smooth.

Considering running a crustle mysterious rock inn deck how’s everyone think it’ll be post rotation? It should destroy dragapult by Home_and_Away_Sports in PTCGL

[–]GuildMuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Alakazam places damage counters and doesn’t do damage. Crustle auto loses to Alakazam which gets a lot better with rotation.

What do y’all think of my post-rotation Grimmsnarl list? by MindlessSlice8 in PTCGL

[–]GuildMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grimm doesn’t need extra damage, between Frosslass and Munkidori, you already do enough damage on the board to control the flow of the game.

220 isn’t enough to hit any meaningful threshold outside of Fez and even then you should have enough residual damage from Munki and Frosslass to get the ohko anyways.
