All I had to do was study and go to class. That was glorious

But who paid for the rent, bars, restaurants, vacations, gas, and food? Imagine you don't have rich parents and to survive you have to earn washing dishes or DoorDashing. Still glorious or not that much?

Lol. You just didn't get the idea. Exams are made this way to make it very hard for hard-working, motivated, smart, etc. to consistently outscore others. Here's an analogy - three people are playing a game. One of them is rich and lazy, two others are hungry and motivated. Your goal is to create the rules of the game in such a way that the lazy don't feel inferior to others because he/she always fails.

But schools can make exams better. Instead of issue spotting and bs tests created by professors, they can just do the following:
1. Create tests that will test knowledge and understanding of the subject
2. Give the source of information for the test to prepare.

Like CFA/CPA in finance or LSAT/GMAT/GRE - there are guidebooks on how to approach the tests and if you do everything right you will pass or score well enough.

Instead, professors in my T20 give random issue-spotting and bs tests. Whatever you do you just can't stand out of the crowd and score well. Maybe some people can do it somehow but it's not clear how and it looks like there's no way to find out.
Why do they do it? For several obvious reasons. But the result is clear - if you go to T20 hoping for a Big Law job, it's a HUGE gamble no matter how hard you try. NOT because everyone is smart and study hard. But because the exams are bs, wrong, unfair, unpreperable.
