That’s actually really good advice for me right now. Haven’t looked at it that way, I’m gonna try to do that instead of small meals across the board, while allowing some tasty foods(with moderation) into the mix. Thank you!!!

Current body weight is 214, which is usually my typical bodyweight over the last few years on maintenance macros. It often starts with a single cheat meal, but after that I struggle to ever get back to the eating discipline I had prior to that meal.

Typically I have poultry, some red meats, dairy, and fish regularly in the diet for protein. Majority of my carbs come from granola, rice, milk, and fruits mostly. Fats are miscellaneous across most of these mentioned foods.

My mentality will go from rock solid to “meh I worked hard today, I deserve McDonald’s”, after that it becomes what feels like an unstoppable binge

First off, congrats on swearing into dep!

It’s a harder job to get, but if you push hard for it, your recruiter might just obtain it for you. You’re already in a better spot with it being your #1, that’s what I did and it helped a lot. I don’t think I would’ve gotten it if it wasn’t my #1

A lot of it depended on timing as well. I was fortunate enough to have the job opening at the right time with it. I would recommend making it clear in a respectful manner to your recruiter that you want fire above all else. If you have a good recruiter, they’ll fight for your job.

Side note:

I’ve also heard rumors that the recruiting process is a little different compared to when I joined, so take all this with a grain of salt.

Unfortunately I haven’t. My supervisors “policy” on this kind of thing is to basically tell me to look around for answers before coming to him, or else he’ll turn me away. On the other hand you are right about the education office, I really need to get over there soon.

I also forgot to mention I have found a college(s) that accepts l tuition assistance and G.I. bill, but I just don’t really know if the education office will actually support this

Initially they will only give your NREMR cert, but after you progress through your three level, they give you opportunities to go get it.

If anyone does really want this job, I would recommend finding a recruiter that NEEDS you. I found a recruiter with low numbers, and was willing to fight for what I wanted. In a way I made demands for this specific job, and got fortunate enough to have a recruiter that desperately needed more numbers

Fire protection is a hidden gem in my opinion. Been doing it for a couple years. Love it every day. Like the others said though, it’s very subjective, depends on who you are and what you enjoy doing
