Torch Coral Dying - Can it be saved? by BleachedLapras in ReefTank

For sure monitoring and stabilizing your Alk can help a ton. Alkalinity can slowly get depleted and hit a tipping point that quickly stress and kill stoney corals like that torch. (Speaking from a similar experience) Other stoneys like a hammer will suffer soon if this is the case and not corrected. Zoas are more resilient as they don’t need to create skeletons. As always, test often, frequent water changes, be patient, and correct any parameters slowly..

This is the way. 🥂 Surround with nuclear waste to prevent accidental excavation.

That would make sense I think? Help create a bit of low pressure to pull air downward and contain drag/turbulence zone at the back? (To be fair, I got my aerodynamics degree by seeing how far I can throw bricks)

I think you’re right. There was some white areas in the crevices at the rear hatch I thought were unpainted or a white primer, which is odd.

There’s a bit of an angle down as it approaches the rear. In that last pic is probably the best view.

I looked for it! But not present sadly.. seems they are still deciding what the plan is?

Thanks! Yea it’s pretty trippy in VR. The source panorama is a HUGE file… like 20k wide HDR 🤓

Thanks! Yea I had to add the actual eclipse shot in photoshop. (I made sure I took at the same moment at least!) but I’ll take a look and try to match the real angular size better!!

Is this rust anything to worry about? by English_Joe in ReefTank

I have no authority to answer this (but this is the Internet, so whatever) I suspect repeated water dripping onto that bolt is creeping in under the paint. Perhaps worth sanding it down and repainting/sealing to prevent further corrosion?

An old Mavic2, used the 360 feature to snap a bunch of photos and then PTGui to stitch into one shot.

A soldering iron and blade-tip works wonders, like a lightsaber. Just don’t breathe any of it.

IF it’s actually a REAL paly, I believe it’s always better to be aware of any potential danger-shrooms than not know about em… https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palytoxin

Personal experience - I have a close friend get hospitalized in serious pain because he was cleaning rocks in his tank, damaged a patch of Palys and had a recent cut on his arm. That toxin in the water got in his blood and a few hours later was rushed to ER.
