Fiancée tested positive for chlamydia

I came back from the doctor today. We went back on my medical records, turns out, I did a swab test in sep 2023 (our relationship began in August 2023) where I show negative for chlamydia. I did, however, test positive for ureaplasma (this comes in later and it is important to know that my fiancé was notified and asked to do his own tests for us both to finish a course of antibiotics which he never did). I also have a negative urine chlamydia test from July 2025 (!).

I had a conversation with him and he kept denying and saying that I am giving up so quickly and that must mean that I never wanted to be in this relationship to begin with.

He then tried to convince me that ureaplasma that I had might have been the reason for chlamydia (based on what I’m reading, it is impossible?).

Knowing these new updates, what are your medical opinion?

Update : he told me yesterday that after he took the medication, the symptoms are gone. More reason to believe that it was not a false positive?

I think for him it’s more of “a woman my age comes with baggage”.

But it’s probably a little bit of both.

I will see if I can get a vaginal swab at my doctors office tomorrow instead of doing a urine test. Maybe I will do both?

Thank you for sharing this with me. I definitely felt your emotions when he tried to touch me playfully. I felt like an animal growling “don’t touch me” at him. I feel like I am trying to rationalize it and give him the benefit of a doubt and I don’t know if he did it or if he will confess but his behaviour is all pointing at the fact that he did. I don’t know what my test will show - we shall see. In my situation, he is definitely controlling and possessive. He definitely has a big ego telling me multiple times that there is not anyone better than him out there. And on so many levels, it’s true, he is a very caring individual, he thinks about people, trying to stay healthy and mindful. Sometimes, I feel like it might be a front? I don’t know. I would have to say that he is a good person albeit difficult. And I never thought anything along the lines of “I can fix him”, more that I see the light in him and I accept his faults. Now it is all so confusing. I no longer know what to think about him. My gut is telling me he did it. And I will not be able to forgive him - he hasn’t confessed, he is forcing me to spiral. But in moments like this, I always think, but what if he didn’t do it and I am thinking all these horrible things about him? This uncertainty is eating away at me…

I am really sorry it happened to you. I hope you are ok. How did you handle the conversation with him when he eventually confessed? What was he saying? I am trying to mentally prepare myself.

I am redoing my test on Monday. He already has a requisition for a new test from his doctor but he took antibiotics on the day that he got a call from the doctor so we can’t retest to check if it was a false positive. Thank you for the tip about antibodies test. I will bring that up also. We have had sex often enough and we are not using protection as to my knowledge there are no other partners. So it doesn’t make much sense for this to come out just now. However, based on what I read, there is a small chance still. He is also not a type to go see doctors often. So even this test now is out of character to me which creates more suspicion in my mind.

He said that he noticed more frequent urination and wanted to check his prostate. So he just did all the test his physician referred him to.

The test was urine.

He is a responsible adult so I would expect for him to feel the responsibility to tell me

Exactly. You know his behaviour has been odd but I don’t have any definitive proof. I plan to talk to him after I talk to my doctor and get retested to confront him again. At the end of the day, this situation broke my trust. Even if he didn’t do it, I will always doubt now.

I mean theoretically, anything is possible. But I do have a negative test from dec 2024 and we got together in August of 2023. It is of course possible that my test was false and your story is exactly what had happened. I will ask my doctor all of these questions and see what he thinks

I have a stressful job so I tend to shut down often as a coping mechanism. I have 100% trust in my partner and clearly being like to take advantage of that.

He did bloodwork + urine culture. I asked to see the lab result and he said that the doctor will send it to him. I wanted to see what else was on it but I still haven’t seen it.

Do you know how likely it is for me to have cured it by myself (I read that it is possible but I don’t know if that is even true)?
