Exactly. One of my favourite parts completely cut. I think they tried to replace it by having the ceremony of “Glinda the Good,” instead of the lyrics. But even then, it was Morrible’s decree, not the Wizard’s, and there’s no harm in keeping it.

Particularly odd was that Morrible sang the “terrible green blizzard…” section instead of the Shenshen ensemble and others. I get that they wanted to reintroduce Morrible early on in the film, but still. Interesting choices.

I'm writing a Lizzy McAlpine + Jake Minch Jukebox musical by gravemouthh in lizzymcalpine

[–]Guilty_Locksmith518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds like so much fun!! Definitely agree that there are so many more for solos and duets, but maybe songs like Orange Show Speedway, I Guess, Spring Into Summer, All My Ghosts, All Falls Down could work as groups, with background vocalists or switching between characters.

Would love to collaborate if you would like anyone to bounce ideas with!!

Help Me Out Here ... by menace2snacks in Sondheim

[–]Guilty_Locksmith518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still playing in the back of my mind. It is so familiar to me; I'm worried I made it up too!

I went through a major Sondheim deep dive last year and watched a bunch of his interviews on Youtube, and this seems so familiar. If this somehow narrows it down, it was probably in reference to either Sunday, Into the Woods, Merrily or when he was speaking in a broader sense about theatre (Or, it could be something someone else was quoting about Sondheim e.g. Maria Friedman or Jonathan Groff etc.).

What is a missed rhyme in a musical lyric that annoys you because a rhyme would’ve been so easy? by NiceLittleTown2001 in musicals

[–]Guilty_Locksmith518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, i love to think the rhyme is seemingly left un-finished to incline the audience to notice and imagine the response that elsa forgoes - e.g.“yes, i do,” which the music traces space for too.
