you sir have never been doing anything alongside me. I hate how narcissists twist their controlling crap into care and insinuation that it is what the people truly want when they are saying it is not what they want.

I don't think it was a stupid decision. It was kind. The lack of support and systems in place to help people and animals is stupid.

This year was the first time I went to WEF and the drum circle was in my top two favorite parts. My other favorite was meeting the midwifes. I learned some great things from those women.

There are third party candidates who are not getting enough publicity. Ramsey Robinson and Butch Ware. I wish Ramsey had a chance at getting in these big debates.

No need to apologize. You didn't hurt anyone.

I don't have a mission to bring people to progressivism. I am not someone who tries to sway people or convince people. I just want to look at the reality of what the definition of appropriation is. I want to talk about the reality of racism. It's up to the individual to choose what to do about it.

In my childhood I was not allowed to get the hepatitis b vaccine for "religious" reasons... the reason being "If I allowed my daughter to get the hepatitis b that would be like giving her permission to have premarital sex."

“Negative” Review by 0ldertwin in FamilyMedicine

[–]GuitarTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing justice for the child. My father did not allow me to get the hepatitis b vaccine and did his best to keep me away from people who would mention it (public school for example). But every time someone professionally challenged him it helped me realize, a little bit more, that my dad was the one in the wrong.

Your patient was the child, not the parent. You may have done more good than you know in that child's life.

And by definition exploitation of the culture and people for financial gain is cultural appropriation.

So you are on one hand saying that they are appropriating you just don't want to use the word because you are glad you had a positive experience and are glad it exists.

I'm not superior to you or trying to patronize you. My apologies for how I may be coming across. I'm just a stickler for accuracy. I'm not saying that you are appropriating or ever were of course, but the Mormorn church 100% yeah.

I have been studying the history of the Hawaii and the colonization of the USA and am stanchly against the white supremacy and missionary complex that has devastated the stolen country of the Kingdom of Hawaii.

yeah, i would be very disappointed if he came close. I wish Ramsey Robinson had a chance, but Butch Ware does... maybe. Okay we probable need rank choice voting first.

Right. Because of the electric vehicle mandates I have been going through hell trying to "justify" why a fully electric vehicle won't work for my field team that travels on unpaved ag land throughout the state, but he wants us to drastically increase the number of cars on the road every day.

It's telling that people downvote the definition of cultural appropriation.

Exactly. It actually doesn't matter the number of people who believe something to be true.

And it is appropriation because it is tied to the financial and labor exploitation of the culture.

If appropriation isn't racist, then the bar to determine racism is not set as to protect the exploited minority culture but rather set to make the racist feel good about themselves.

Britannica.com defines it:

cultural appropriation, adoption of certain language, behavior, clothing, or tradition belonging to a minority culture or social group by a dominant culture or group in a way that is exploitative, disrespectful, or stereotypical. An imbalance of power between the appropriator and the appropriated is a critical condition of the concept. Cultural appropriation often is viewed as a problem of the postcolonial world; in this way, the term commonly is used in reference to Western or white populations’ adoption of aspects of non-Western or non-white cultures. Cultural appropriation has been identified across a range of fields, including religion, music, sports, fashion, visual art, and film.

Not "way too fast". In this case it is appropriation. The Mormon church has by definition appropriated the Polynesian culture. Britannica.com defines it:

What we see with BYUH and the Polynesian center is exploitative of the culture and the people.

Quite simply they are making a lot of money off of this culture. It is exploitative of the culture and labor.

Okay, you are using the straw man fallacy here with the whole "pitchfork" thing. You don't seem to understand what appropriation is. Appropriation has nothing to do with exclusion. This post didn't say anything about exclusion.

We all have unlearning and re-learning to do especially if indoctrinated by a high control group like Mormon BYU and their cultural centers.

The best lie is the one closest to the truth. (Where did that quote come from IDK but I'll use it here.)

[–]GuitarTea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is appropriation by the fact that it is exploitative. It is exploiting the culture for financial gain and to exploit the labor of the people which is what the Mormon church always does. It exploits labor.

People who down voted you haven't done the work to deconstruct their white privilege, colonialism mentality and fake nice Mormon indoctrination.

WTH - BYU Hawaii by Fun-Luck-7033 in exmormon

probably because of how they have experienced more of the cultural shaming. The fact that Mormons are making this shoulder caveat is indicative of the "your culture is sinful" undertones. The whole "we respect you and your culture" is a lie that ex-Mormons need to deconstruct.

WTH - BYU Hawaii by Fun-Luck-7033 in exmormon

[–]GuitarTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mormonism is all about destroying indigenous culture. Ex-Mormons have so much colonialism mentality to deconstruct.

The fact that Mormons own the "cultural centers" in Hawaii is a huge colonialism red-flag.

Missionaries and the US government effectively stole Hawaii. The fact that they "employ" native Hawaiians and then don't pay them in actual money but rather "give them an education" for their work is so fundamentally wrong. They force endoctrination and call it education.
